As an avid outdoorsmen and a history/genealogy/civil war buff I love tracing through the woods looking for lost relatives. My father is from the Black/Littrell/Tadlock clan out of Hardin & Gallatin Counties in So Ill and my mother is a Sloter/Masters from Northern ILL. Also I have done some DNA testing and it looks like my Y-DNA shows that I'm a Flanders. I currently live in the very Northwood's in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. But I still make time every year to trace my roots and would love to hear from friends and relatives. firstname.lastname@example.org
RE: Photo James Garfield Tanner - Question Doing a quick Rootsweb search I see that James Garfield is listed as the son of William Frederick Tanner. William is son of John W. Tanner. John W. had son's Clifford (my link to the family) & Benjamin F. of course all has to be verified but yes, it appears there is a family tie in our research.
RE: Photo James Garfield Tanner - Question At this point I am still working on the Tanner line. What I have is Edward Clarence Tanner buried at Leavell Hill. His son is Clifford Tanner, who would be my husbands grandfather. I am pretty sure that Benjamin F. Tanner, also buried at Leavell Hill is Clifford's son too. So seeing others Tanner's at the cemetery make me wonder what the links are.
Photo James Garfield Tanner - Question Hi Bob, I am researching the Tanner family in southern IL. I have some buried in Leavell Hill, Gallitan co, IL. I noticed that you put up a couple pictures of James Garfield Tanner & wonder if he is a part of your tree?
Thomas Ivey Thanks for making the requested change. He was your friend and you must miss him. My son is a fireman and paramedic. Their work is more a vocation than a job. Thanks for helping me honor those who have duty deaths. If you are interested in additional firefighters, I invite you to view my virtual cemetery, "We go running in." There are memorials for a lot of heroic people in it.
Old Liberty Cemetery Thanks so very much for the photographs of my great great grandparents' tombstones - Thomas J and Lucina McDowell Hodges. I had planned on attempting to locate them this summer. I would have failed due to physical limitations. I would never have been able to make the hike necessary.
My mother's sister was wife of Hubert Galyan, whom I think was Uncle to your Grandmother?? I'm visiting in Florida and don't have my files readily available. Will re-check when I return home. Take care.
