Perhaps this (see picture) was the beginning of my interest in family history - though I would not realize it for many, many years. In photo: my dad, my brother and myself - after resetting the stones for our great-great-great grandparents (in a nearby small country cemetery).

* * *

Dear Ancestor

Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.

Her grandfather was Robert Marion Miller, and her dad Was Robert Otto Miller. Fred and Robert Marion were 2 of the children of William Henry Miller. William Henry and James (Married Annie McBurney) Miller, my grandmothers father, were 2 of the 8 or 9 children of William and Mary Gill Miller. My grandmother was Nannie Miller Jackson. Who was your dad?

Margaret Cornell Churchill
Mary, I am doing research for a client and thought I would let you know that there is a discrepancy in your bio for Margaret. The Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, Kings NY does not have a 'Dayton' burial between 1830-1840 which would be in the time-frame of Margaret's first husband's death based on the bio. The earliest 'John Dayton' burial at Green-Wood is on Nov 16 1859, Lot 11917 Sec 106. There is another 'John Dayton' buried in the same lot on Mar 6 1882. There are two 'JNO. A Dayton children' buried in Lot 283 Sec 42 one on Jan 10 1850 and the other on Feb 12 1851. None of these 'Dayton' names match the story you have about Margaret. I am concerned that the name of her first husband may not be 'John Dayton' or if it is, the cemetery information in the bio is incorrect.

Please do not show my name or number on this memorial.

Bowes Family
Hello, I am interested in the Bowes memorials that you manage. I am part of a group of individuals using documentary and DNA evidence to connect the Scots-Irish Bowes families from the North of Ireland, specifically Counties Fermanagh, Monaghan, and Cavan. Six of us in the group have taken Y-DNA tests, which prove our lines are connected. We would like to find out more about your Bowes line, which we know is related, and collaborate with any living descendants.

The two websites for the Bowes One Name Study (ONS) group, run by Martha Bowes, are and Martha's Facebook page is: We have a separate, secret Facebook group for our specific Bowes family, to which we can invite you.

Hope to hear back from you.

RE: Jacksons in Center Grove
Thanks so much, as I'm new to the website, I'm not sure what it means to have the memorials transfered to me, but it's appreciated very much. Are you related to the family?

Thanks for the Info posted about my grandfather Howard H jackson and Grandmother Fern E jackson in Center Grove Cemetary, Warren Illinios. I think my mother is also there, Joan Kathryn Smith (jackson). Hoping to find photos of the headstones, as I'm on the other side of the world (Singapore) and don't get back much. Thanks! Rick Smith

Not Good Yet
I am betting you didn't get my email today - I'm learning to use my new laptop and not doing too well - just wanted to tell you I got your FindAGrave corrections and I'm very curious about Omer Beal, so thank you for the wedding bells announcement. I'm going to try to find out more about Omer and his wives.

I will get better at my emails - I think I sent one out of four today, but I think I've got it now. My brother-in-law helped me out tonight so I think I'm getting better.

Hello Again
I'm back - I was offline for two weeks - got a new laptop and I'm just learning to use it. 40 Changes on Findagrave - yikes, but I'll get used to it. Poor old laptop finally bit the dust, but I've still got my hard-drive from 2002 - my Dad bought it for me. It's huge - that's where I keep my pictures and family information so losing my laptop wasn't bad. Hope you're having a good summer.
