Bio and Links
Bio Photo I love photography and documenting family history. I know how hard it is at times to find information about our ancestors, and I believe that having a photo of a headstone is extremely valuable. As a result, I have been wandering around cemeteries as time permits and taking photos of headstones. If I can help even one person find information about a family member, I will be happy! I don't want anyone to be forgotten - everyone has a story!

Resurrection Cemetery
Rose,
Thank you very much for the headstone pictures of my Salvail family in the Resurrection Cemetery. I could tell it was very cold from the pictures. Your time and effort is greatly appreciated.
Thanks again,
Rick Eklund

Wow! That was quick. Thank you so much for your time today in Resurrection Cemetery and finding my Grandfather. You have been so helpful. I noticed that the birth year on the headstone, 1890, doesn't match the true year of birth in 1891. He died on Oct 28, 1944 in New Jersey and made it to Resurrection for burial on Nov 4. Being a conductor on the Jersey Central RR and the brother of the Bishop of Helena made for a fast trip to RC by rail. So kind of you to help in our family genealogy research.
Thanks again and if you need any help on this end I'd be more than happy to oblige. Have a nice day.

RE: Peter Caretto
I meant to comment on your feelings of connection with all those beautiful old pictures on the headstones. My very first find-a-grave trip over to HC ended up in the pauper section and there were all those pictures on headstones. Totally boggled me! I'd never seen that before and the fact that they were on headstones that dated back to the early 1900's really blew me away! I photographed many and then went to Google to translate discovering it was Croatian. I was hooked! Whenever I see a picture on a headstone, I have to pursue that person's story. I think these photos were mostly from their passports and also used for their naturalization applications in the later years. Butte is such an amazing story, isn't it?

Rose, I'm right with you. It is exactly why I wrote you about the photo I added to his memorial just in case you didn't want it there. I certainly do respect that and please, don't hesitate to ask me to remove it. I thought it turned out well but it's totally up to you and I can just keep it in my files. Like you, however, I also attack the bird poop! In good weather, I take water and try to wash up the stone a bit but sometimes that doesn't happen. Then I use photo shop. I try very hard to remove it as it feels disrespectful to the memorial to add a photo with that issue. Call me crazy! (<:) Thanks for your note!! I appreciate it very much.

Hey Rose, thanks for accepting the edits and for keeping the photo I worked on and added. I'm glad you didn't mind. The funny thing was that I thought the photo I took of him from the headstone - now 2 years after your photo - was kind like a Dorian Gray thing...he looked older! ha! Thanks again! Pat
