What a great site. I found it a few years ago while researchig family and decided to add local graves. Most entries are for Illinois cemeteries; mainly Bluff City in Elgin, but other cemeteries, too.

If I have added a duplicate memorial, please let me know.

Most entries for deaths prior to 1995 are from grave photos. I am working to get all the photos uploaded, but this is a slow process. If there is not a photo on the memorial you are interested in, just ask (via edit/suggest a correction) and if I have a photo of that grave I will expedite the upload. Many memorials from 1995 and later are obituary based and there is a higher chance that I do not have a photo. A warning: my photography leaves something to be desired at times; if you have a better photo, please add it.

I do not include obituaries (in rare circumstances, I make exceptions), but will add excerpts; I will not include names of living persons.

I am happy to add family link and extra information into memorials. I will generally attempt to confirm the information first, though.

If you would like a transfer, please request it through the Edit-Suggest a correction tab.

Most photos include a geotag in the metadata.
This information can be mapped by uploading the photo to Jeffery's EXIF viewer at:

Pictures may be copied for personal, non-commercial purposes (including adding to, if desired); a small credit would be appreciated (but not necessary).

RE: Roy L. Sharp
Bob, thanks for getting Mr. Sharp straightened out, linked and submitting edits. These people who are at the very edges of the family tree, I have trouble keeping their info in my head. By the time the edits or photos come through, I'm like, who were they, again? Not your edits, because you do them so fast, but the ones that take the full 21 days! I much appreciate all your help.

Bob, thanks so much for your work creating the memorials for Nathaniel and Louisa Steffen, my great great grandparents. I know my grandmother, Lydia Conrad, would be so happy to know that you took the time and have now passed along the care and management to me. So greatly appreciated by all of our family.

Joseph Weil headstone
Thank you so much Bob for getting the photo of Joseph Weil's headstone. I will unlikely be able to make it to this area of the country, so it is greatly appreciated by the family.

Thank you
Appreciate you're going to Lakewood to help me out. It is a long way from St. Paul. The pictures pointed out that the cemetery needs to do some maintenance on the gravestoness. Two of them were pretty obliterated by grass. I called Lakewood, and they are going to raise the stones and clean around them. Thanks. Without your assistance, I would have never known.

RE: Campbell Family in Illinois
Hi Bob!
Thank you SO VERY MUCH for clearing that up for me about David #1 and David #2! Do you know what the younger David #1 died from at 22 months of age?

I'm so glad you explained David #2 because I noticed on the 1880 census that David #2 was age 16 but had a marking under the "Health" column that asks if the person was sick or had a disability. I couldn't quite make it out...but I think one of the words was "fever". So it really complicated things when you posted that the younger David died at 22 months..and showed his DOD on the gravesite pictures you posted on his Find A Grave, but "he" appeared in the 1870 Census. I couldn't figure out how the "David" could appear on the 1870 census as age 8 if he died in 1861?

The 1880 Census shows "--- Campbell" as living with Susan Campbell (after David, the father died) listed as a Brother In Law. I'm assuming it is the same "Hugh Campbell" that was listed on the 1870 Census. I am so happy that you cleared this up because I discovered I was related to the Campbells thru the Ancestry DNA test and I had so many questions on this family. Thank you SO MUCH for posting the pics and your work with Find A Grave! It really made a difference to ME!!! ---Twig
