Eva, you were correct about his stone having the spelling with an 's'. I'll take note about the stones surrounding his my next trip to Oak Hill. Thanks for drawing my attention to her memorial. Loretta

Hello Eva, I'm getting ready to fill your photo request for Ben Royse. When I was a child, my father had some hay dealings with him. I barely remember him and his wife. I see that she is not linked to him, and does not appear to be buried by him. Would you know where she is buried? And was it that I saw he was buried near a Pippin family? It doesn't mean it's so, just that the stones near him started with a P seems like, and when I saw Pippin in your name it triggered the thought that maybe he was related to you. Thanks, Loretta

I have added information to Mahlon's bio on his memorial & created a memorial for his wife, Nancy. Found very little about Amos.
Thanks for your inspiration.

I missed answering about the records. They had some microfilms in the library with the names in alphabetical order of people buried in Lafayette Cem 1, but when we went there most films were missing (probably due to lack of security measures for instance backpacks are allowed) but there were some at the end of the alphabet still there, I do not know if T is still there but you could call. They also had this mess on microfilm we tried to photograph since they charge 25 cents a page, crazy price for copies, and hard to read, pages to big to fit into one page and still be readable. Also Lafayette cem 1 and cem 2 are sometimes combined in records. No one has ever written a book on this cemetery nor a book from records on this cemetery. The lady librarian was not very nice or helpful, that was a first for me and I have traveled a good deal visiting other libraries. If you call and get her try calling later in the day you may get the young man he was very helpful.

Hi I normally do not create memorials for people just because they are mentioned on the tomb since in this area I have seen so many married couples buried separately each with their own families sometimes.
I tried to find Mr. Todd's obit but all I could find is where they put out a notice:
HALL OF GRAND LODGE FREE AND ACCEPETED MASONS, state of Louisiana, Masonic Temple, New Orleans, Feb. 2 1905. --The officers and members of the Grand Lodge, F. and A.M., are hereby notified to assemble at the Masonic Temple on Friday. Feb. 3, 1905, at 2:30 p.m., for the purpose of assisting at the obsequies of our deceased M.W. Brother, SAMUEL MANNING TODD, Past Grand Master, By order of
L.P. DELAHOUSSAYE. Grand master.
[More announcements for Mr. Todd but different groups named.]
(Times-Picayune, Fri, 3 Feb 1905, pg 8)
for his burial but failed to mention the location, so frustrating sometimes. You would think with his high office in the Mason's he would of had an article on him.
If you find Mr. Todd buried in another location please let me know and I will remove the photo to this memorial.
Have a great day

Thank you for your kind words, which are very inspiring.

Thank you so much for the transfers and allowing me to link the family together and also for the great photos.
|Tara Taylor||RE: Anton Hinshaw|
Let me do some checking and digging around see if I can come up with anything else for you. I've lived here since 89 and I've got some friends who have lived here a lot longer and all their lives.
|Tara Taylor||RE: A. Hinshaw|
Yes that's it. Sorry I couldn't be any more help.
|Tara Taylor||A. Hinshaw Grave|
I found a grave for a A. Hinshaw , but the date do not match those posted on this website. The photo I have says A. Hinshaw 1854-1935. There was only one other grave that was a Permelia Hinshaw, wife of Levi Hinshaw. Would you still like me to post the one I got?
