John Miles, memorial number 40282791
John Miles is the youngest child of Ann Mapplebeck and William Miles of Ecclesall-Bierslow, a parish in Yorkshire, England.

Two of John's older sisters had died as infants in England and only he and his sister, Jane, survived to travel with their parents to America in 1842.

They settled in Nauvoo, Hancock, Illinois with other LDS immigrants. During the hardship and sickness that came to the Saints, the father and mother Miles both died in 1844 leaving John, 2 years old, and his sister Jane, 4.

These children were taken into the Nicholas Welch family and remained as members of the family from that time on. They came to the Salt Lake Valley in the Betz Company of wagons, arriving in September of 1852.

John lived until May 7, 1919, spending his entire life in the homes of the various members of the Welch family in Paradise Utah, since he never married. He passed away in Logan Utah, at the home of Martha Jane Welch Dunn.

Cornwell, Lenora
I was looking through Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park's Cornwells and Lenora Cornwell was listed amongst them. I just took the name and burial place down. I am transferring her to you. You may have additional information.
