Bio Photo DEAR ANCESTOR

Your tombstone stands among the rest; Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.

It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.

Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.

Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years age
spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.

I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.

I found this and fell in love with it but, do not know who wrote it. Hope that you enjoy reading it.

Hi Virginia,

you sent me two census from Claiborne Parish. I have to assume that you are referring to the name not being the same on the headstone as you did not explain your reasoning. I have decided to keep the name of Toy rather than Tom b/c Toy is engraved on the actual headstone. I am aware that the information on both the census and headstone is only as accurate as the one providing the information. If you would like to discuss this with me feel free to contact me at dara.deblieux@yahoo.com

Myrtle A. Slaughter Lumpkin
I do not know how you found them! I have been calling cemeteries all over Missippi for them. I knew my grandfather, Hugh Hilrey Lumpkin, was buried in Indianola, MS because I was there as a child but my wayward uncle made me think that my grandmother Myrtle Angeline Slaughter Lumpkin was buried in LeFlore County, MS which is Greenwood, Ms where he lives. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR FINDING THEM FOR ME!!!! You are THE BEST!!! If there is ever anything I can do for you down here in Texas please let me know....

The message that you left me about Daniel Gill Slaughter and Mary Elizabeth Maxey. They are my maternal great grandparents and Myrtle Angeline Slaughter is my grandmother. Any info that you know would be most appreciated....

Hello and thank you for all of the information on the Slaughter/Pritzen line that you have shared with me. I have one more question. On John Pritzen's memorial you say that the "Maxey's family tree" they showed four boys and five girls. Are you speaking of Barney Maxey and Angeline Hamm's children? Because they had 10 children that I am aware of. And do you know who would have this family tree.

Many thanks.
