Hello.. Are you by any chance related to Matilda Ann Gibson in Oak Grove Cemetery, Sabine Parish, LA?.. I see you left flowers on her memorial
|Iris Meshell||RE: Edward Russell|
Thank you, Christi, for following up as requested.
|debbie smith ricker||Margaret/Maggie Gallman Atwood|
Dear Cousin Christi,
You and I are cousins if you are descended from Maggie Gallman McCrory Atwood, who I have recently discovered was my great grand aunt. Her sister Laura Letitia Gallman Wiltshire was my great grandmother, whose daughter Mattie Laura Wiltshire Wilson was my maternal grandmother.
Maggie and Laura had another sister, Ella, who was born in about 1874. I can find no record of Ella other than on the 1880 census, living with her sisters Laura and Maggie and widowed father, William Silas Gallman.
Do you have any information about Ella and what became of her? I never even knew that Maggie and Ella existed until I started digging through genealogy. I was delighted to discover that Maggie married twice and had four children, but what became of Ella? Unfortunately, I didn't ask these questions before my parents and grandparents died.
Thank you for any information you can provide.

Thank you so much for linking J C Smith
with his mother and siblings. It was
so kind of you to fulfill this
request. When I locate the father's
grave I will let you know. To the best
of our knowledge, William Smith is the
second husband of Sallie Jones Lewis
Smith and J C was her youngest child.

Please link J C Smith to his mother Sallie Smith #78487927. All we know so far is his father's name was William Smith (haven't found his grave site yet)Sallie (Jones Lewis) Smith is his mother, Willie Smith #78489214 and Tommy Smith (still living) are his brothers and Grace Lewis Sykes Walker is his half sister #73124523. According to family J C Smith is the youngest but died of typhoid fever at a young age and was buried quickly.

Can I use your headstone picture in my Ancestry.com family tree?

You realize who the "Kate" was? Sarah mentioned her in the entry. They were good friends. It is Kate Stone, whos diary "Brokenburn" is considered a classic. Just checked in Brokenburn for a mention of the deaths, but Kate's diary seems to skip that month.
