Find A Grave business:|
SOURCE CREDIT FOR MAP PHOTOS of Sunset Cemetery's unmarked graves in section 7P: Riley County Genealogical Society's home page, on which is a link to a "Grave Locator". Go to that page and click on the link, and it takes one to an interactive map of Sunrise and Sunset Cemeteries.
This is a fabulous resource, extremely helpful in finding grave locations for photographing!
Please submit a summary of obituary information to the memorials I manage. I take great care not to include names of living relatives (unless I know them personally and have their permission). If you find any that aren't in keeping with this, let me know. There are some I've inherited and haven't double checked every single one.
I'll transfer most any memorials if someone is not known to me.
If you want to change information, click on the "EDIT" tab at the top right of the memorial and add the information in the areas given.
*If you find a memorial that is DUPLICATED, please click on the edit tab and fill out the form.
*I've inherited some --I can't just delete those, I have to contact FAG to delete them, so I will mark such as "duplicates" until they are deleted.
*If you are a close family member who doesn't want a memorial or photo on FAG,please contact me and I will remove the memorial.
If I did not create it originally, I have to go through FAG.
If I did not take the photo I can't delete it, even if it is on a memorial I manage (you will have to contact the contributor).

MY LIFE STORY - IN BRIEF:
I have interests in art, photography, history, and writing. My husband and I have two college aged sons. My husband is a teacher, and I am a substitute teacher with fairly full-time employment. I hit the cemeteries when school is out, though! Am presently photographing Sunset Cemetery in Manhattan.
MY FAITH STORY:
I believe in and try to follow Jesus every day and in every aspect. The Kingdom coming on earth begins with those who are faithful doing the will of God through Christ in all we say or do on this earth and in this life, not because of eternal reward, but because the world needs us and the message of salvation, and redemption of all Creation. Peace on earth, good will to all.
Thanks and blessings to all who work so hard to make Find A Grave one of my favorite "social networks"! Appreciation as well to those who put the tributes on memorials.

You are welcome. Yes, I am. :-)
Grace Allen was my Grdmother Sister - I'm about 90% postive she would be buired in Sunset or maybe a Catholic cemetary. If you happen along the way find there obituary and burial site, plaes add to findagrave, I'd like to link Grace and my Grandmother Nellie - and with her Parents Frank S Allen & Ivy Allen ( Chandler)
everything for Merlin Clifford Eddy
everything for Grace E. [Allen] Eddy. what does the E. stand for?
Thank You / FWestgate

I suggest that you remove #91416447, Mattie L. vanDusen, in favor of #141724243, Martha (Mattie) L. van Dusen. The latter has the correct spelling of "van Dusen" as well as other important information. If there is a problem or if you have questions or comments, please let me know. Thanks for all your work at Sunset.

Well, yes, according to Ancestry she is my first cousin 3x removed. Her mother Katherine Selina Warlick Sisk and my 2nd great grandmother Mary Ann Warlick Warlick were sisters, and are both buried in the Mountain Grove ME Church Cemetery, Burke Co., North Carolina. And Sidney Warlick also buried in Sunset was her cousin, whose father was killed at the battle of Spottsylvanie Court House. There is a long confused story about having Warlick cousins in Manhattan "and why did no one in Junction City talk about them?". Still don't know the answer to that. Sidney did have an older brother, Robert Lewis who is supposed to be buried in Sunset and was, I believe, the husband of Nellie Himes Warlick, buried in Sunset - but none of this have I been able to prove. I did do some looking at the Riley Co. Genealogical Society some time ago and need to go back again. Robert & Sidney had a younger brother, but he kindly went to Colorado and is buried in the cemetery at Meeker.
This is more than you wanted to know, but families seem to go on forever,

Yes we are related through my husband's side. His grandmother was a Douglass from the Pierceville area. They came to Solomon Rapids, KS from Avon, New York. Sure been a challenge to find these memorials not knowing any of them. Very interesting. Good to work with you. Thanks for caring.
The link for the map of Sunset Cemetery on your profile page is not working for me.

No. I just walked part of the NE part of the cemetery yesterday afternoon. I'll have other photos and probably edits to make on other memorials later.

Yes it seems simple to me for Ancestry and F.A.G. to educate there customers that they are stealing when they lift someone's else's photos without permission. But that would be bad for business. When I inform some of them they have stolen my photos they get all up in my face and use abusive language like I'm at fault. Iv informed Ancestry and F.A.G. about some of them and if I get any results it takes months to remove it and I never here back. I have thousands of my photos stolen with out even mentioning my name. Think this is my last year of subscribing to ancestry just makes me sick to go on there and be shocked to see so many of my photos stolen. I don't put family photos on anymore .Someone has even stole my grandparents wedding photo and cropped it to show them separate then it goes vireo and everyone puts it on there tree. Just make me sick. But enough rambling ,GOD bless and so sorry for your loss, will pray for You and your family. Jarrott

I really don't know much about this cemetery. It is just outside Inez, Texas off of Beck Rd. at the end of a long dirt road. It is a Black Cemetery and there is a little old church just before you get to it. I was a little nervous about there out there alone, so I didn't stay long. Hopefully I'll get someone to go back with me and transcribe the whole cemetery.
