I am an Orange, Texas native, now retired and reside in Humble, TX. |
A few years ago I started working on family genealogy and discovered the Find-A-Grave site and have found it to be a great research tool. I have created memorials in the area of East Texas, primarily in Orange, TX.
I will gladly make any corrections and/or additions brought to my attention. Also, I will act promptly on those transfer requests made under Find-A-Grave guidelines, i.e, "...requests should be for direct relatives within four generations. This would be your siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren."

Thanks very much for making the corrections to this memorial so quickly, and for adding his death certificate. I had not found that in my researches, and it explains where the confusion over his father's name came from. Apparently the person who provided that information for the certificate got it wrong, and it's been propagated since then. I have the Civil War records of his father which show his name clearly as Dempsey N Phillips, as does his tombstone at Rock Island, IL. A letter that establishes that this is the same man is available at http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~kwc/phillips/letter.html

I might have left you an addition to the above memorial stating
Additional Sibling: Emily Smith Traylor Heard Find A Grave Memorial # 151018584.
PLEASE DISREGARD. This would be an Aunt, not a sibling.
Sorry for the error.

Thanks. Happy New Year.
|Marti Martinson||Questions from Orange|
Mr. Wilson, I now reside back in Orange due to some family obligations; I have been living away since 1982. A friend in DC told me about findagrave.com, and I sometimes take pics. I am pretty concerned about the status of Evergreen Cemetery here in Orange. Look at the LATEST pic of a marker that you initially took:
(It should be for Claude Leslie Gilstrap.)
I realize that cleaning markers and keeping flowers are family issues, but I "think" Evergreen is perpetual care; a grave popping out of the ground should be a cemetery matter.
I am guessing Evergreen is not going to be responsive. Do you know of any reporting mechanism or procedure for something like this?
Thanks. Oh, feel free to look at the other pics in that folder. The first one (Blanchard) is for my great-grandparents.

Thank you for the heads up on the duplicate, I try not to but one slips by every now and then.

Thomas, would you mind adding the photo you took of Everrett Wilson #14422280 in the Evergreen Cemetery to his wife Ella's #154632106 memorial please? she recently passed away.

Thomas, I wish I could help you with particulars of Louis Harmon's wife. If I have any documents I haven't uncovered them yet tho' I doubt I do.
Best wishes. Your project is helping so many families establish their roots.
