Shirley, I was wondering if you have any information on Mary E. Dowis Eoff's father, Tyre G. Dowis. I know he was born in 1816 in either South Carolina or Georgia. 1860 Census Records, Canton, Smith County, Texas, show the family living there. T.G. Dowis, wife Martha Dowis and children Green, John, Maving, Martha, MARY, Andrew and Isaac. Apparently, he died before 1880 because Martha C. Dowis was widowed and living with son, Maving A. Dowis and his wife, Susan Dowis. Also, another son, Isaac Mitchell Dowis lived there also. I am not related to this family; I have just been researching at Coryell Baptist Church Cemetery, Coryell County, Texas where Martha C. Dowis and son, Maving Arthur Dowis and wife, Susan, are buried. I just had a thought; I'm wondering if Tyre G. Dowis went to fight in the Civil War and didn't return. Also wonder about their son's Green Dowis and John Dowis. Green was 19 in 1860 and John was 16. Any information you might have would be appreciated.

Shirley - you created two memorials for the same wife of William Henry Eoff. He is listed with two wives linked to him with same exact dates.

Best regards,
Bev M.

Wrong Cemetery
This grave is at the Moro Cemetery, not the Rose Cemetery. I would appreciate if you would change the location. Thank you.

Nicholas Smith Eoff
Nicholas was my great grandfather. My great grandmother was Stella Maude Whitney. My grandmother was Mildred Louella Eoff Spalding... My mother was Phyllis Marie Spalding Geschwint. My name is Candice Lorene Geschwint Bartleson. In the 1930 census, Stella lists herself as a widow, when I see that Nicholas didn't die until 1964 I think. Do you know why there is a discrepancy? I wish I had asked my grandmother when she was alive, but it seems that I am the matriarch of the family now. We must be cousins.

Carol Sturdy
George Henry Sturdy 32181286
Hello Shirley

George Henry Sturdy-His BIO says married to Emily Isabelle “Emma” Eoff - their children are stated as George Henry Sturdy, Margaret Bell “Maggie” (Eoff) Bartsch, Anna Louise Sturdy, Alice Emily Sturdy, Albert Andrew Sturdy, and Arthur Oswald Sturdy. If Margaret Bell "Maggie" (Eoff) Bartsch is a child of his than her maiden name would not be Eoff.

I have a death certificate for Margaret Bartsch for 15 Oct 1941 that gives her fathers name as George Sturdy and her mother as Emma Eoff. Informant was Arthur O Sturdy (I believe to be her brother) He would be my husbands Great Grandfather. It does not give a birth date and the age is "About 73" that would make her birth as about 1868.

The attached memorial listings for siblings of George lists a Margaret Sturdy Bartsch (#125097200 with maiden name of Sturdy and married name of Bartsch. It gives a birth date of 1850 and the same death date as the death certificate. The memorial says her parents are Oswald Sturdy the same as George Henry Sturdy. I am so totally confused and would appreciate it if you could clarify this as I have tried to make sense of this all day. This is truly confusing. Please check it out. You can email me if it would help to discuss this.

Thank you so much, Carol

Thank you, Carol Sturdy

Hi Shirley
I am looking for information about Mr. Eoff. I have that he married Pleasant B. Lafferty, my 2nd great aunt, and I cannot find but only his birth, 04/16/1804, Pulaski Co., Kentucky. Have you any additional info, pictures, licenses, documents, etc.? And did he and my aunt have children?
Thanks so much
