I've been interested in our family genealogy for over 30 years off and on and have picked it back up again. I'm willing to try and verify everything that I have and assist anyone that I can with the info that I have.|
I've always lived in Texas and currently live in the Dallas area.

|Kathleen ||Emma Blankenship|
I noticed that you submitted the picture of the tombstone of Emma Blankenship. I am wondering if you know anything about this woman, more than just the tombston?
I think she might possibly be a cousin to my father.
John Preston Cates and Cora Belle Townsend Cates had 4 children, 3 daughters, Emma Belle (1921) Johnnie Mae (1923) A boy born 1924 who only lived a short time and Veta Elnora (1931). John Preston & Cora Townsend must have divorced sometime in the early 1940's as they are together in the 1940 Census but Cora remarried in 1945 to FO Hennington. We have tracked down the other two sisters but have been unable to find any thing on Emma Belle except in the obituary of her sister Veta, in 2009, is says both sisters (and it gives their married names) are dead.
David T. & S. Emma Ware Cates are buried in the Plains City Cemetery, these would be her grandparents.
Any information would be appreciated.

Hi. I transferred his page to you to maintain. Just a tip -- It would help make the transfer quicker if you would include your number with your request. Anyway, glad to have you take care of his page.
|Barbara Campbell||Reuben James|
I was wondering if you would mind visiting Reuben James' memorial and voting on his fame? his number is 141328133. While listening to a song about one of the ships named in his honor, I looked him up. No memorial. From what I can gather by looking at his Navy file, he may have been buried in a pauper's grave. He was receiving $9.5 a month and this wasn't sufficient to feed and clothe him. Sad, true but it was 1838.

You have a photo request for a Hooten in Hooten Cemetery, If you read the information posted about the cemetery, you will see that there are no stones left in the cemetery.

It is certainly a pleasure to meet another cousin; I came down through Charles Wakefield's son named after him: Charles Wakefield b.1769 d.1846 and buried in Elijay, Georgia city cemetery. Here is some info on Charles senior you may find interesting.
I Contacted Sam Wakefield (Fifth Cousin living in Burke County, NC), July 17, 2007 concerning wakefield family history. Apparently we are distant cousins (Fifth Cousins) since he comes from the same direct line stemming from Thomas Wakefield born in 1618 in England and we share the same 'Charles Wakefield Senior'. Sam said that Charles Wakefield Senior and his son Charles fought in the revolutionary war. Dates would fit for Charles Senior, however, Charles (junior) would have been only 7-9 years of age.
Sam indicated that the Wakefield farm is now underneath Lake James and lying in Burke County, North Carolina and that Charles and other family members are buried on an island within the confines of present day Lake James. Sam indicated the grave site (which he has visited) was near highway 126 which goes over the bridge and is near the Duke Power Company's present dam site.
I hope to go with Sam soon to take pictures of the grave site on that island in the lake. When I do I will send you some pictures.

|TLH||Reeb photo request at Laurel Land|
Hi, the volunteers would be happy to fill your photo request however we will need a burial location to do so.
Can you please contact Laurel Land and get a burial location for your request? The number is 214 371 1336
If you can't call, you can try to email them, the link is:
There are over 514 photo requests currently and the volunteers cannot ask for that many locations to fill requests. With a location, your request will get filled pretty quickly. Thanks for your help!
