|I have been working on my genealogy for over 40 years. During my travels across the nation, I go camping and visit cemeteries. My dad and I have been taking photos of grave stones in Indiana, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois and Michigan, we have been tracing our family across the nation. Now, I not only take photographs of family stones but I enjoy documenting and photographing cemeteries for Find A Grave. |

THANKS for the quick transfers. Samuel was my Great, Great Uncle and Percy a First Cousin, Twice Removed. It's always good to have them connected to my giant family tree. I will later BEG you for their spouses. You are a Prince of a guy!!!
|David D||RE: Burgess family|
The Liberty Herald is available through newspaperarchives.com. John is often mentioned there almost weekly in 1862 and 1863 for his role as treasurer of the Indiana Santiary Commission "branch" at Union County. I am editing and annotating the Davis letters from 1861-1863 for publication as an eBook which I hope to distribute as a free download through the Univ of Iowa Press. Hoepfully it will be searchable. They are suppose to be searchable on the iowaheritage.org website, but each of three years is a different database, and there is no annotation - no footnotes - to tell the reader who and what Davis is writing about. Fell free to contact me at davidpauldavenport.yahoo and I will happily send you the Davis eBook on a CD. I am envious that you have the Burgess sword. I'm pretty sure that antiques roadshow would give you a value of at least $25K. Have you thought about placing it on display at the Indiana Hist Society in the same gallery where the regimental flags are?
