I appreciate the efforts of all the photo volunteers who have helped me by adding photos of the headstones to the memorials I created. I would be even for grateful if you could send me a little note letting me know you have added a photograph so I may update the memorial with any new information the headstone photo may offer and the section if you remembered would be grateful to. I would also like to know So I can send you a little thank you for the help.
Because of harrassing and rude people I have elected to take my email off this page. | |

 | RE: dup memorials Thanks! I was trying to figure out who to ask, and saw that other inquiries were there, so I took a shot at it. Where is the best place to address concerns? | | | Anita Roberts Jahner
 | RE: dup memorials Thank you Kim! I have added very few memorials, and have always done a search first, so it does get frustrating. At least the memorials are being created, so I'm happy about that! I appreciate that you took the time to send a message!

 | Other Shields Memorials Sunshine,
Gordon Holmes has now deleted his memorials for John J Shields and Sarah Elizabeth Shields, in addition to the one for Matilda. So, your three are not duplicated now.
I found an Find A Grave memorial for George W. Shields (Find A Grave #2503290), He is buried at the Loudon Park National Cemetery. He may have been the husband of Matilda. Unfortunately, he d. 31 Aug 1900, which removes him as a candidate for having been a pallbearer at my grandmother's funeral on 15 Nov 1901.
Can you tell me the section and plot number for the three Shields memorials that you set up? Perhaps not, but are they in the same plot or general area?
Thanks

 | Shields Memorials Sunshine,
I have heard from Gordon Holmes that he has deleted his memorial for Matilda A Sheilds, leaving your memorial for Matilda Shields as the only one.
I then noticed that his memorials for John J Sheilds and Sarah E Sheilds duplicated yours for John J Shields and Sarah Elizabeth Meredith Shields. Perhaps he will delete those duplicate as well.
Are you aware of the Loudon Park website that includes documents showing the location of the various sections and lots within each segment? I also found the document that lists lot holders as of 1872. That document names Harriet Sheilds as a lot holder of lot No. 320 in the Whatcoat section. I would be very interested to learn where the three Shields burials you have memorialized are located. The website is

 | Matilda Shields Sunshine, I just sent an email to Gordon Houston Holmes, whose memorial for Matilda A Sheilds (Find A Grave #92654425) duplicates the one that you have for Matilda Shields (Find A Grave #100496020). His photo is not as clear as yours, which perhaps led him to think her middle initial was 'A' and that her last name was spelled Sheilds. The obit that you have on Matilda's memorial indicates that she was the wife of George W Shields, who, I believe, may have been one of the four Shields men that were pallbearers at the funerals of my grandmother, Hattie B. Shields Gottling, and my G grandmother, Margaret Slater Shields. Both are buried at Loudon Park Cemetery in Section XXX, Lot 62, south 1/2. I hope that you and Gordon can settle this duplication amicably. He has priority, but you have more accurate data and details. With kind regards, James Goe Gottling | | | Steven Ijams

 | RE: Alice Smoot Hi, I'm sorry, I don't have their memorial information. Thank you for your help with Find A Grave. PatriciaAdded by pe986 on Apr 17, 2013 8:36 PM | | | J Gottling
 | Shields or Sheilds Sunshine,
I have seen the Shields name spelled both as Shields or Sheilds (also as Descheilds). I am interested in the memorials that you created for John J, & Sarah E. Shields, because John J may have been related to my grandmother, Hattie B. (Shields) Gottling. The obit for Hattie and her mother, Margaret (Slater) Shields both name Charles Gottling, Frank Haines, and 4 Shields men (George, John, Richard, and Thomas) as pallbearers for the two funerals just 6 weeks apart. Charles was brother of my grandfather. Frank Haines was Francis Haines, b-i-l of Margaret (Slater) Shields. I have found many documents that identify four Shields men as sons of John J Shields, b. abt 1812 and his wife Mary. I suspect, but cannot be certain, that this John J was a brother of my g grandfather, Absalom Butler Chenoweth Shields.
There is a Find A Grave problem: Your memorials for John J., Sarah, and Matilda Shields were created after the three for these same people, where their last names appear as Sheilds. I prefer your version, as they provide more info, however, the others were first. I hope that you can resolve this name difference and duplication with the creator of the other memorials, Gordon Houston Holmes.
With kind regards,

 | RE: Mary Arta-Ferrier According to the book I copied the memorials from, Banks, Edna, Grant, James, Mary Arta and Thomas are all buried in a row if that helps you any. Donna | | | | [View all messages...] |
