I also attended this church as a child - when I visited by grandmother and great grandparents Walter and China Powell. I am much older than you, so we would not have known each other. If, however, you attended that church, you are probably related to me, albeit distantly.
Are you on Ancestry.com? If so, please let me repay your kindness by forwarding to you any information I may have about your family, If you are not on ancestry, give me the names of your great grandparents and I will compose a family tree for you.

Dear Lily,
Thank you for your suggestion regarding the memorial for my 3rd great uncle, Thomas Elswick Field, Find A Grave memorial # 12877818. While his tombstone does give his death year as 1913, as you pointed out, both his death certificate and the records of the Shuford Funeral Home give the year as 1912. I had mentioned in the memorial that the tombstone was apparently wrong. Are you kin to him/me? I've been trying to track down his Confederate service, and think he served in both the Confederate Army and the Confederate Navy.
