|Bio and Links|
I'm originally from Sutherland, Iowa and I'm in the process of recording, photographing & adding as many obits as I can find for all the graves in the Waterman & Calvary Cemeteries in Sutherland and Liberty Cemetery in Calumet.|
If you want a bio added in I will happily add it. If it is adding parents/spouse, please use edits feature.
The following newspapers in & around Sutherland are now online! Ordered by county now since so many more have been added. Happy hunting :)
Buena Vista county
Albert City papers
Sioux Rapids papers
Storm Lake papers
Hawarden, Alton, Ireton papers
Rock Rapids papers
Lake Park, Milford, Arnolds Park, Spirit Lake & Terril papers
Since I live in Cincinnati, I'm also photographing Greenwood Cemetery in Hamilton, Ohio. All info is pulled from the stones and from cemetery records. A note about Greenwood's cemetery records, there are mistakes - lots of them so please do not take them as 100% accurate. If names differ from those records, I normally use what is on the stone and note what the records have.
As a reminder, transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations. This would be your siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Any non-direct relatives (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc) are not required to be transferred.
If you find any mistakes please email me! :) With the papers being online, I copy and paste from them, and it isn't always perfect (lots of extra ./,/- stuff) I try to get it all removed but feel free to point stuff out

You always do good work, but your work on the Jetter family is EPIC!! You really took a few rocks and turned them into a family history. You rock! Thank you, Nicki.

|Mike O'Shea||David Johnson|
I am Mike O'Shea and found that you have posted an obituary and a photograph of the death and burial of David Johnson. He is a 3rd cousin of mine and I would like to seek your permission to use both the obit and the picture of his stone on my Ancestry Site. Naturally all appropriate credits will be afforded you in the notes. Thank you
Maybe we should sic these guys on Julius?

Thank you for letting me know the correct spelling of his last name. He was a CIVIL WAR vet and I was able to read his unit and add to his bio. Your photo was excellent, easy to read.
Thanks for all you do on Find A Grave

I'm related on the Menke side, so I don't know her family. Sorry wish I could be of more help. Kris.

Nicki - Thank you so much for all you do! For the past year I have been trying to find information on my Great Grandfather Winfred Smith who was a chiropractor in Sutherland. My grandfather, Harold Smith, was the son of Winfred and I was only able to piece together who I thought his parents were. The information you provided gave me the information I needed to find the obituary, his correct date of birth, place of birth and another relative to check out (his niece mentioned in the obit). All of this has allowed me to verify this connection! Thanks again - you have made my day!
