Hi again Jim,

it appears I asked too soon, I did find a record of him. His wife sued him for divorce due to desertion in 1877 and that, according to the article, he was living in Chicago.

Not sure where the Whaling Museum got there info but it appears more research is needed.

Thanks again!

Hi Jim,
I'm looking for information, death date etc, for Silas W Kempton's brother Charles HS Kempton and am hoping the record you found Silas W's death would also include Charles HS's death.

According to the New Bedofd's Whaling Museum's website, Charles HS Kempton was also lost at sea,

He was married to Susan H Jennings on Nov 7 1867 and probably died between 1867 and 1879.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer, Mj

The photos you have posted on Find A Grave #83384587 family memorial on 1/13/2012 are the exact same photos I took on 12/22/2011 and posted on the Westport Cemetery project. Can you explain?

Carlina Sheridan McElroy
Hello again, Jim!

Thanks for your message. How interesting that you were able to interview Mrs. McElroy! While her famous grandfather had died 25 years before she was born, she must have heard some wonderful stories about him from her grandmother and her aunts. (BTW, if you would like to add her first husband's name to the Family Links section of her memorial page, Col. Glasgow's is #115497875.)

Best regards,

Carlina Sheridan Glasgow McElroy #80614222
Greetings, Jim!

Re: my suggested corrections/family links
Carlina's first husband, Col. William J. Glasgow, USMA Class of 1927, was the scion of an old and distinguished Texas family. According to a West Point classmate, he had become smitten with Carlina Sheridan while she was still a teenager, but being 9 years her senior, had to wait to make her his bride, which he did on August 10, 1940. Their daughter Isabel was born at West Point the following year, just 4 days before the attack on Pearl Harbor. He served with great distinction as a staff officer during WWII, and was decorated by the French, Italian, and British governments. He died at 42 while on post-war duty in Japan, the victim of a heart attack. He was subsequently buried in El Paso, TX, the city founded by his great-grandfather.
(Also, the "o" in Mrs. McElroy's first name appears to be a typo; her name was Carlina.)

Best regards,

Andrew S Palys
Andrew was my first serious boyfriend. I am thankful that you have posted this info on Find a Grave.
Looking at the dates for his dad Stanley, the dates coincide with Andrew's date of birth and death.
Thank you so very much, Lenore Hilliard Palmer

Daniel Squire
Dear Jim:

I just read your note to Margaret Hobson and inquiry about the lot location. Daniel's grave is located in Row 25, south end. Row 25 is towards the back of the cemetery, which is the east side. Easy to locate as Daniel and that of Joseph's stones stand alone. Sorry the pictures were so dreary. Lighting has been less than desirable as of late, and with the holiday, felt it best to fulfill the request now despite that. Understand that your part of the country may get hit with a storm Xmas eve. We keep abreast of Boston weather as we have a daughter who lives there. Happy Holidays!
