Bio and Links
Bio Photo My family originated in England and I also have Native American roots. My ancestors are BASS, HOOSIER, HOLLIE, ASHWORTH, GOINS, NICHOLS & PERKINS amongst others. The BASS'S landed in Virginia and migrated to North Carolina. John HOOSIER married Jeremiah's daughter, Nancy Charity Bass. John was living in North Carolina near Jeremiah Bass when the boundary line for Tennessee moved. At this point they became citizens of Carter County Tennessee. They followed the Natchez Trace to Natchez Mississippi where they both received land grants. When Jeremiah died, John and Nancy Charity Bass, his wife, pulled up stakes and moved to Louisiana settling in the Neutral Strip. Most of my family stayed in Louisiana, but some moved on into Texas. My BASS and HOOSIER Ancestors are some of the first settlers of Virginia, North Carolina (See Bass's Choice), Tennessee, Mississippi and Louisiana.

I spend every free moment working on my genealogy and documenting cemeteries. For me it is not just a hobby, but a passion. While traveling on business, I always take the opportunity to locate the nearest cemeteries.

I am not picky about transferring non-family member's memorials. Just contact me and we will see if we can work something out. If you see a memorial that needs correction, feel free to contact me and give me the details, but please remember to BE NICE. If I have taken a photo of one of your ancestors headstones, feel free to use it. That is why I do what I do. You don't have to ask either, I believe that by freely sharing we all benefit.

For those that have photo requests, remember to say thank you to the contributor that fulfills that request. We spend our time and gas going to cemeteries that are not always near. It is always so nice to hear from people that find a loved one that I have been able to create a memorial for.

I live in Northern New Jersey, and in the winter months, I won't be able to go to the cemeteries due to weather but will make every effort once spring and time allows.

RE: Humphrey Bass
In case you were not aware .... on the same day that I was looking for Humphrey Basse at St. Helen's Church in London I was also looking in the same place for Lidea Basse and Mary Basse .

Probably they were all on the same Headstone and I had no success because of all the changes that have taken place . But I'm sure they must all be the same family .
And there's Lydia Basse at St Alphage Church but I've not been there yet.

Thank you!
Hi Celeste

I am a descendant of Capt.Job Allen,Jr. who served in the Revolutionary War. I appreciate, so much, that you have taken photos of his grave site, in the Presbyterian Pioneer Cemetery. I live on the west coast and the probability of me getting to New Jersey is a little slim.

Also, thank you for your generosity in allowing the use of your photos. Our DAR chapter is creating a book to commemorate the lives of our patriot ancestors. I'll be using one of your pictures in the section I am writing for Capt. Job Allen, Jr.

Best wishes for you and your passion for this great work you are doing!

Chester B. Simmons Jr.
Dear Celeste,
I saw the page dedicated to Chester B. Simmons Jr.... is the same memorialized on the wall of missing at Normandy American Cemetery in Colleville sur Mer (France)?
If yes, I've adopted his grave last year, and I'm so honored to pay my respect to him every time I can...
Best Regards,
Simone Picozzi

Haddon grave
Thank you so much for posting this picture. Does anyone know what exactly is written on it, other than the names Thomas and Sarah Haddon? I am a descendant who lives in Virginia and would love to know what other information can be gleaned from this memorial.

Thanks for posting again and thanks to anyone who can help me with this line.

RE: Elizabeth Storm
Thanks for taking photos. Some time ago the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery page indicated that the ODC cemetery had become part of SHC so I started adding memorials to SH and not to the ODC. The SH page has changed the commentary on their page and most people I think now consider it one cemetery.

Thank you!
Celeste,

Thank you so much for taking photos of Thomas, William & John Reed headstones at the Old Dutch Burial Ground in Tarrytown, NY.

I truly appreciate the time and effort you put forth to help me.

I am trying to locate the grave of my 4th Great Grandmother, Eliza Denike Reed - b 1815 / d 1889, so hopefully this brings me a little closer to finding her memorial.

Thank you again!
