Bio Photo Vermilion County Saving Graves is part of the international Saving Graves project (www.savinggraves.org). The Vermilion County chapter of Saving Graves is dedicated to providing leadership, education and advocacy in preserving and restoring endangered and forgotten cemeteries in Vermilion County and surrounding areas in east central Illinois and west central Indiana.

I've always loved cemeteries; there's something very poignant, yet so very hopeful about them.

I am currently working on uploading the high resolution versions of my photos to Flickr at: http://flic.kr/ps/2PgsDe. You are welcome to use them for personal use.

*Note about transfer requests: please understand that my access to the Internet is now more limited than it was when I was more active on this site. Please allow at least 7 days to allow the transfer to be completed. Your patience and understanding is sincerely appreciated.

Searching for my Grandmother
Hello,
I am doing some research for my mother. She is looking for her birth mothers grave. The information I have is:

Name- Constance Fie

DOD:1950

Location of Death: Outside Potomac,ILL

My mothers grandfather wrote her a letter and told her that her mom was buried outside of Rankin ILL.
Find a Grave does not list anything for my grandmother in their database. Not sure where else to take this search short of driving up there and walking through each cemetery outside Rankin.
Any help anyone can give me in helping my mom would be great. She wants to visit the grave before she gets to old to travel.

Respectfully,
Greg

Alfred Wilson
Thank you for taking time to look at his page. I wish I had an obit for him but none so far. I would also love to find his twin brother. I have no idea what happened to Albro Wilson. Thanks again for all your work with the Vermilion people!

RE: Alfred Wilson
Hi Elizabeth,

Thank you so much for the transfer. I will update his information and get him linked to his family. It would have required much more research to find him without your help!

Alfred Wilson
Please note that I have left a more detailed request on your e-mail account.
Alfred Wilson was born in 1849, one of the twin sons of William Wilson #70733094 and Mary Jane Macomber Wilson #59240186.
In 1880 Anna and Alfred had no children and lived in Crawford, Kansas next to sister Rachel Spragg.
1900 they are still in Crawford. They moved back to Illinois in 1910.
They also owned land in the 1870's in Fremont county iowa near his half brother William Alonzo Wilson 13815013.
Please transfer him to me so I can honor his past and link him to his family. If that is not possible, please link him to his parents.
Thank you so much for posting him so we could find at least one of the twins! Albro is still missing.

Mary Ann Shields Old Attica Cemetery
Hi,
I'm interested in Mary Ann's tomb stone because I'm researching the Shields of Fountain county. My great great grandfather and grandmother are buried in Riverside Cemetery. Mary Ann's death date looks to be either 1861 or 1867. Can you tell which? Also did you assume her spouse was William Shields from the W. Shields on the tomb stone or was there a record of his burial, but no marker? If there were records, were there other Shields buried in Old Attica?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
