My name is Malinda Conner Fairall.I have been doing genealogy for some forty yrs.(yes I am old)
Genealogy has been a passion.
I have learned we are the by-product of our past.
I have enjoyed honoring my ancestors. They had to be some of the toughest folks on earth to come to the
Americas and face the wilds of the unknown. We as ancestors of these people ought to so proud.

I give a greatful thanks for all .

Old Maxwell Family Cemetery
Thomas Maxwell is my husband's 3rd great grandfather, and we found the cemetery this past spring. We were so excited to find it, but it was overgrown so that we couldn't get into it from the road. Is there a back road to get closer, or are there plans to clean out the underbrush. We can see from the photos that it was cleaned out some time fairly recently.

We plan to be in the area again next spring and hopefully we'll have more success.

John Bryant Martin
Do you have John Bryant Martin in your tree? He was born in Edgefield, S.C, 1836 and died in Lincoln Co. Georgia in 1932. I am trying to find the names of his parents.

Thanks

Elizabeth Ann Derryberry Wallace
Elizabeth Ann Derryberry and Jacob Wallace are my 3 great grandparents. #77229821

There are so many other graves in Tennessee that are relatives to these two and could be linked on the memorial.

Thanks for all the work you do in family history.

Martin family Abbeville, Edgefield, S.C. and Lincoln Co. Georgia
I am researching the Martin ancestry of Abbeville, Edgefield, S.C. and Lincoln Co. Georgia.

My great grandfather was John Bryant Martin (@1836-1932). He was born in Abbevile or Edgefield, S.C. and is buried in the city cemetery of Lincolncon, Georgia. He is the father of my grandfather, James Thomas Martin (@1888-1947), born, lived and died in Lincoln Co. Georgia.

I cannot find out who the parents of John Bryant Martion were.

If anyone has any idea, I would appreciate knowing. I have searched census records with little info on who John Bryant Martins' parents could have been.

Thanks,
Sylvia Martin Tyler

This is just curiosity- any chance you're related to Bobby Boatright who played for Bob Wills?

RE: George Martin
Thanks - I do have Nathaniel in my notes - will add your info to mine in the hope that eventually some things will come together. I recently had some luck with that approach, in a different family so I just keep going..

RE: George Martin
You asked about Zadock .. this is from Annals of Platte County (MO)(paraphrased : Mr. Martin came from TN about 1820 & settled in Clay Co MO. In 1828 we have seen him in charge of the ferries over the Platte & Missouri (rivers). His name is connected with the earliest settlement of our county. His wife was a sister of Roland Brown. He had brothers, Isaac & Joseph, & a sister Cynthia. In 1846 he left for Oregon, with several of his family.
Zadock "Zed" was b 12 Feb 1789, prob Wilkes Co NC & d. 16 Oct 1849 Lafayette, Yamhill Co, OR. His father Zadock was b. 18 Nov 1742 in Prince George's Co (now Frederick) MD; that Zadock had a bro Joseph whose son Brightberry married a sister of my g-g-g grandmother Nancy (Willis) Cates, & the family had other connections to my Willis/Cates families. They may have lived in Knox and/or Garrard Co KY. So that's the tip of the iceberg concerning MY Martins.... My husband's g-g-g grandfather William Martin was b abt 1824 VA or KY; on 28 Dec 1846 in Greenup Co KY he m. Phoebe Dawson; by 1850 they were in Clinton Co MO where they stayed - that is next to Platte Co. Then my brother-in-law's g-g-g-g Grandfather William Martin was b. 1772 VA & d 1847 Indiana; his son Samuel was b 1800 Bath or Shelby Co KY & d. 1848 Putnam Co IND; they migrated to Miami Co KS after being in MO for a short time. Those are the 3 lines that may or may not be connected. There is another Martin who intrigues me: Henderson C. Martin b. abt 1825 TN, d. 1897 King City, Gentry Co MO. His father William Martin b. 1805 KY & d. 1844 Moniteau Co MO. He signed up for the Mex War 1846 in Cooper Co, then lived in Morgan Co 1850-60, Barry Co 1870, back to Morgan. I have several reasons for being interested in him, not least the presence of a William Henderson Martin b 1835 KY or OH, who lived in Clinton Co MO in the same twp as my husband's ancestors. That one m. Mary Gustin in 1857 in Platte Co (same as my Martins). He was Primitive Baptist, as was Phoebe Dawson Martin, and the Gustins came from Greenup Co KY where Wm & Phoebe were married. I'm sure this is more than enough to make you roll your eyes -- or jump up & down with joy, that would be better. Let me know if you have anything or want more of this; I do this only at the library so there will be delays.

Freeman Cemetery
Hi, I see that we share our 4th great grandmother, Mary "Polly" Hollingsworth Freeman. I am descended from her daughter Elizabeth who married Samuel "Doc" Patrick. I am trying to find out where exactly Freeman Cemetery is. Can you give me anymore information on it's location? I live in the Thyatira/Wyatte area. Thanks!
