The son of a career US Air Force pilot (KIA Vietnam), I am a retired US Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer, and a retired Contract Administrator/negotiator/writer for the nuclear power industry.
My interest in family research and cemeteries goes back to my teen years and my mother's interest in the subject. Every summer was spent in Mississippi at the old (ca. 1835) plantation home owned by my grandmother and her brother.
My goal here is to document, through personal visits and photography, all known cemeteries in a two county area in Mississippi. I will also include cemeteries that were at one time surveyed along with the recorded graves, but that I cannot (and others) locate after diligent search.
I gladly will transfer memorials to family members within FAG Guidelines, and may also consider transfer requests from others with a pressing need. I also solicit any and all corrections and expansion of the data I enter (I am not a perfect typist).

|Tamatha Castle||Torrey Cemetery|
I am letting you know that I got
the direction to the Torrey Cemetery south
of Hermanville. Mr. William Sander Has a
book called Carved in stone and he had put
the directions in his book.
I do need to ask about one more cemetery
that you had added someone in. It is Harrison
Cemetery in Harriston, Jefferson Co. You added
a James G Harrison. Like Torrey it does not
have good directions, it said off Hwy 61 on old road going to Alcorn A&M. I was hoping that you may know where this cemetery is located with better directions.
Thank you for your time
|Tamatha Castle||Torrey Cemetery in Elmo|
I am looking for a Torrey Cemetery south of Hermanville. It Has 4 headstones in it. David Davenport, Hester Davenport, John Rail and Obedlance Rail. A ms Added this Cemetery in 2009.
A Mr William Sanders added a Torrey Cemetery with 17 headstones near Pattison and a Torrey Gravesite that had one headstone with two names on it and the one that you added in Elmo with 7 headstones. I don't know the Hermanville Area and local folks didn't know where the cemetery was located. And I didn't know if its part of the other Torrey cemeteries or if its a different one altogether. If you have any information or a better location other than south of hermanville that was added by ms it would be greatly appreciated. The Davenports are part of my family line and I would love to visit the site.

Oh wow, Thank you for cleaning the stones. I tried to rub some of the lichen off of my Great Grandfather Leonidas Oldham's stone but had no tools but my fingers.

In February of 2013 I was at the Evergreen Cemetery in Port Gibson, Mississippi to visit the grave of my Great Grandfather Leonidas Oldham. In March you added the photograph of the original head stone that is now a foot stone. I completely missed that stone the month before. Thank you so much for finding what I missed. I am very unhappy that I did miss it, though I had no idea that I should look for such a thing.
