When I was a kid, my grandparents would take me with them to visit the cemeteries where relatives were buried. They would stand by a stone and talk about the person buried there. I wish I could remember those stories. This is a way to record stories I am now told. There is a story under every stone and cemeteries full of untold stories. I hope this will give people a chance to record a memory before it is forgotten, then lost. |
Recently, my husband got a Harley and we have combined our two interests. We ride the bike to various cemeteries that folks request photos from and have fun reading the old names and hunting for the requested gravesite. Sometimes just finding the cemetary is quite the challenge!
I do research on the following family lines: Lillpop, Askren, Green, Bell in Indiana. In Mississippi I follow the lines of Taylor, Ferguson, Scott and Holden.

I actually was at the cemetery when I claimed Free Springs. I took several photos but unfortunately I couldn't find all of the ones I was hunting. So, I talked to the groundskeeper who gave me a number for a lady that has the layout of the plots. I even went to the older Free Springs down the road that isn't really marked. I've been extremely sick and have not been able to make it back out there and I just finished editing the pictures on all the shots I got that day. Just letting you know, it's not like I was claiming requests just to claim them. I'm new to this, disabled, and dealing with a lot if personal matters. So...I'm doing the best I can with everything going on at the moment. But thank you for letting me know. I'm letting you know that in the future there is no reason for you to search out my claims and take the photos. I'm a woman of my word and I would never not fulfill an obligation or complete a task. I'd really appreciate it if you would just leave the ones I have claimed for me. I can't drive so it's something I look forward and it means a lot to me. Hope you understand where I'm coming from on this. Seemed like you just ignored me and pushed me aside. I'm new to this site but I'm not new to the genealogy, grave hunting, or definitely not photography. I take pride in getting the best shots. So, I am hoping that maybe you'll see how much it means to me and not push me aside when there are so many unclaimed requests.
Thank you so much for the recent transfers. You're awesome! =)

Please check the date of birth you show for Monte [Montie] Clayton Lambert. You show year 1909, but I read date on photo of marker as 1899. David N. Bishop
THANK YOU FOR THE TRANSFER

I figured you were my cousin Patty. Red was my grandfather. My uncle Jerry and I have done extensive research on the Bruton/Brewton tree.

Is it possible to get an updated photograph(s) of this monument? I am trying to read the inscription, and it looks like there is a second stone behind it. I am curios as to what it reads.

|Gary Williams||Bethlehem Cemetery vs. Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery|
This past week I photographed the Bethlehem Baptist Church cemetery which sits between Hwy 51 and I-55 (Across Hwy 51 from the fire hall). While researching the cemetery, I found Bethlehem Cemetery which appears to be located across the interstate on the East side if I-55.
It also appears from your photos that Bethlehem Cemetery is abandoned and not cared for.
I wonder if a note should be attached to the description of Bethlehem cemetery noting the distinction?
