Dear Ancestor,

Your tombstone stands among the rest;
In this field of green.
The name and date are chiseled out
For all the world to see.

It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I'd exist,
You died long before I was born.

Yet we are of one, you and I,
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.

Dear Ancestor, the life you lived
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.

I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.

Strangers in the Box
By Pamela A. Harazim

Come, look with me inside this drawer,
In this box I've often seen,
At the pictures, black and white,
Faces proud, still, serene.
I wish I knew the people,
These strangers in the box,
Their names and all their memories
Are lost among my socks.
I wonder what their lives were like.
How did they spend their days?
What about their special times?
I'll never know their ways.
If only someone had taken time
To tell who, what, where, when,
These faces of my heritage
Would come to life again.
Could this become the fate
Of the pictures we take today?
The faces and the memories
Someday to be tossed away?
Make time to save your pictures,
Seize the opportunity when it knocks,
Or someday you and yours could be
The strangers in the box.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"If you could see your ancestors
All standing in a row,
There might be some of them, perhaps,
You wouldn't want to know.
But, here's another question, which
Requires another view,
If you could meet your ancestors,
Would they be proud of you?"
Evelyn Bernice Albert Hayes
Hi. I saw a memorial # 97160815 for Bernice Evelyn (Albert) Hayes in the Rose Lawn Cemetery in Brownville, Cameron, Texas. How sure are you that her maiden name was Albert? I believe that this person was the daughter of Phillip Edward Kennedy and his 1st wife, Virginia (Burkhalter) Kennedy. Virginia later married Chester James La Huis.
Sorry, computer shifts.
In regards to Nola Jean (Douglass) Baldwin Find A Grave# 69066667 and her husband Steven Roy Baldwin Find A Grave# 69066681, please consider transferring their memorials to me, I am Nola's Sister and Steve's Sister-In_Law. I would like to be able to transfer both over to their daughter or son at some point, if I get them on to Find-A-Grave. Thank You so much, and terribly sorry for your loss.
Sam Stevens
Hello Melody,
THANK YOU for your consideration of posting this information on Sam Stevens - Stephens {Originally}. Find A Grave # 82027833.
Am doing Family research with documentation and Samuel is a distant relative. Would you consider transferring his Memorial to me until a closer family member might ask for it. Would like to keep it in the family. Not trying to gather numbers; just think it should be a "Family connection". I would like to up-date it some as well {with documentation}. Thank YOU, Ralph Biggs - rabiggs4243@sbcglobal.net - Member # 46960503 - Okmulgee, OK.
Hi Melody! I am sorry to hear that you lost your husband. In the last 4 years, I have lost almost all of my parents generation on both my mother and father's sides. I am working on putting the family tree together on both my mother and fathers side... It is taking me to all places. and we do not have the luxury of having all the photos. I am working on putting together the pictures we do have, and will be entering them online as soon as possible. You ask that we not copy photos even on Ancestry without your permission. Emma is my great great Aunt on my dad's mother's side. I would like to add it to my line.
Thank you in advance.
Infant Alley
Melody,
In Calvary Cemetery, Minnie Ellen Alley and Infant Alley are the one and same infant.
Thank you for the correction.
