I have been researching my family for the last fifteen years and have traveled several thousand miles just to take headstone pictures!
I love cemeteries with all their simplicity and grandeur. The lives and stories that reside there is our history.
I am not into posting as many as I can as so many are doing. Yes it does help the families to locate their loved ones, but to me just posting the info is not enough! Where are the headstone pictures from YOU walking the cemetery??
So many of the posting are from people who went to the library and used the cemetery books to post to FAG!!!
RE: Mesquite Cemetery I am sorry to say I have no idea where I got that baby picture. I do enjoy photo repair and it is possible I saw your photo and thought you might enjoy a copy with damage repaired. I just don't remember. I am happy to remove it if you wish.
disappearing memorials "Would you please transfer my grandmother to me - I had set this up many years ago and do not understand how it is now under your listing. Virgie Lillian Green Brown 18215096"
I just wanted to assure you that I did not do anything to make any of your posted memorials disappear. I do know that when I posted mine in 2007, yours were not there. Never have heard of anything like this. What a mystery.
The Guinn's Hi, My name is Fred Whittington Jr. I was wondering if you are any relation to the Guinn family. Jess Frank Guinn is my Great Grandfather and his Daughter Velma Mae Whittington is my Grandmother. Don't really know most of my family from Oklahoma. Long story short, A lot of the Guinn family came to Tulare County California after during WW2. I hope to visit Oklahoma someday.
RE: Duplicates The problem is when you go to link memorials together. If there are more than one for the same person then which one do you do links to? I checked out a few of the Emerts memorials this morning that have been linked together and it is so confusing with multiple memorials for the same person. No couple can have two/three children with the same name, birth and death dates or a child with two sets of parents with the same names, etc. I did not create Find A Grave nor did I make the rules. Other contributors have made it very clear to me that duplicates are not allowed, ever. If you have any problems with memorials being merged or deleted you will have to take it up with the people behind Find A Grave. I do not have anyones memorial merged or deleted but I have had to remove plenty of my memorials because the Find A Grave police told me I had too. Whenever you create a duplicate you are putting the info. out there and other contributors can and will have it merged with their memorials. I am sorry for your problems with this area of Find A Grave. I sympathize with you but please don't label me the Find A Grave police. I did not even read you contributor page until this morning.
RE: Frederick Locke Emert Sorry but I really did not mean to upset you. I just noticed that there were three memorials for this person and I have been chewed out by other contributors for a few duplicates that I created when I first got on here. I will not bother you again. Again I am so sorry for upsetting you.
"Find A Grave contributor S McLaughlin has made a suggestion to you regarding your Find A Grave memorial for Percy Treat. Link to memorial: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=45405841 Link to contributor profile: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=mr&MRid=46888017
Their suggestion: ------------------------- Would you please attach Percy to his parents - James M Treat #26187820 ------------------------"
I will be glad to connect him to his parents' memorial, but you need to tell me who his parents were and their Find A Grave memorial numbers.
