DEAR ANCESTOR,

YOUR GRAVESTONE
STANDS AMONG THE REST,
FORGOTTEN AND FORLORN.
YOUR NAME AND DATE ARE CHISELED OUT,
ON SLATE OR OLD LIMESTONE,
IT REACHES OUT TO ALL WHO CARE,
IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO MOURN.
YOU DID NOT KNOW THAT I EXIST,
YOU DIED BEFORE I WAS BORN.
YET, EACH OF US ARE CELLS OF YOU,
OF FLESH AND BLOOD AND BONE
OUR HEART CONTRACTS AND BEATS A PULSE,ENTIRELY NOT OUR OWN.

DEAR ANCESTOR, THE PLACE YOU FILLED,
SO MANY YEARS AGO,
SPREAD OUT AMONG THE ONES YOU LEFT,
WHO WOULD HAVE LOVED YOU SO.
I KNOW THAT YOU LIVED AND LOVED,
BUT, I WONDER IF YOU KNEW,
SOMEDAY I WOULD FIND THIS SPOT,
AND COME TO VISIT YOU.

RE: hi
HI Roberta... thank you for your concern. We have already posted all existing headstone photos for Oak Hill. The remaining burial cards are those interred at Oak Hill without headstones. The cemetery records have been neglected for decades, with portions of the maps actually thrown out. Find a GRAVE is intended for graves, not necessarily headstones. I lead a 5 year battle to have Oak Hill removed from the hands of the private owners and legally run by the Township now. The original owners lived in another state and had not visited the cemtery in over a decade. My family is buried here. We have come a very very long way in cleaning the cemetery and now are finishing up this years long records project. Thank you for your help!

Flowers
Hi! I didn't make it. I really liked it too though. :) If you click on it, then you can click to add it to your scrapbook. Also, in case you don't know, under contributor tools, customize, click edit your scrapbook, add new item and then choose from user uploads. There's always tons of new images to add. Fun! Hope that helps. :)

Your poem
Hi Roberta,
Thank you so much. If you would like to see it, the memorial is for George Warde Smith at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx, NY.

Your poem
Roberta,
May I please have your permission to use the poem you have under your "bio"? It is so appropriate and I would like to add it to my biological grandfather's memorial if I may, on Find a Grave.
Thank you!

Ervin Paulson gravestone
Hi Roberta,

Thank-you so much for taking the photo of my grand-uncle's gravestone. I was sure I would never get there to take one myself. He was from western Wisconsin originally. I really appreciate it!

RE: Elliott
Actually Roberta, yours has the correct spelling. The other Robert Elliott listing is missing the last "t" even though the record was added before yours.
