I enjoy taking stone photos for the older souls. I also research and try to find some history about the person as time permits. I have learned much about the history and early settlers of my community.|
I use many secondary sources for my research on this site. I provide sources in the note section of the memorial, and encourage verification using primary sources. I also use a tombstone birth date calculator whenever a stone inscription has an age at death.
Feel free to use my photos, but please reference the site. Corrections, requests for transfer and discussion are welcome!
Please let me know if I have established any memorials, or taken photos of your family members that you do not want on the site, and I will most certainly remove them.

Portage Community Historical Society (Indiana) Brendan Clancy announced at his State of the Township address at the Bonner Senior Center on Feb. 13, 2014: Improvements to James-Schrock Cemetery - A steep incline at the main entrance has prohibited access to many visitors. We are currently under construction of a new entrance into James/Schrock Cemetery. As soon as the weather cooperates we will continue with this project. Also, a new James-Schrock memorial monument will be installed at McCool Cemetery. This monument will list the names of the deceased at James-Schrock Cemetery. A dedication ceremony is being planned.~Kathy

Hi Tina, That's great that you were able to get so much info and trace your back to the Mayflower! You never know what bit of information is going to lead to such a wonderful find. I was lucky enough to be able to trace my dad's line to John and Elizabeth (Tilley) Howland of the Mayflower. It's fun to have ancestors who were part of our earliest history. Congrats & thanks for letting us know . Mary

Hope replyed at the time, but just in case, can not thank you enough for your effort and photo. The photo gave me complete family info on my adopted father. Allowed me to find a newspaper clip explaining his early death. Had looked for years, but needed his sisters name. Thank you for your time and consideration....

I did a search at this cemetery this afternoon and on the list I noticed that you had commented on a few of the names.
Would you please help me to learn how to do a search to locate where the gravesites are located?
I would really appreciate any help you can share.
My e-mail address is, firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you very much,

Thank you for adding his tombstone photo to his memorial. I appreciate it.

There is only 1 memorial for him that I can find, and that is the one created by Rodger Wolf. If I had one on there, I deleted it because Rodger had a lot more info. It sure is a mystery and I only had the info from the transcript.

I got a message from Rodger Wolf a while back. He said he had visited 5 cemeteries in Indiana. He thinks that Hamelton is buried in the Medaryville Cemetery next to his son and grandson. He thinks his 1st wife was Malinda Lewis who is linked to him. He then married Catherine (Wheeler) Lanam in 1865. Rodger has an obit for Hamelton dated 1882 and he was 72 years old at the time. When I created the memorial, I got my info from the cemetery transcript. Can you contact Rodger and exchange info with him? I can delete Hamelton's memorial. I noticed there were 2 different spellings of his first name. Have a good day!
