RE: Leah LaForce's parents
I doubt the Sederberg history would help with my question, but just in case you may have heard something,I will tell you the story. Lucy LaForce had daughter Leah LaForce (my grandmother) in 1898 (maybe Valparaiso or probably Chicago)and as an unmarried mother, I believe. Later she married Fabian Sederberg and had son Carl and she died not many years later. I met my Uncle Carl and family when I was around 7-8 years old. So Leah and Carl were half brother and sister. My mom stayed in touch with Ruby (Carl's wife) & Carl. My dad died in 1973 before anyone was into genealogy. Many years later when I got interested in genealogy I wrote to Ruby (Carl was very ill at this time)about who was Leah's (his half sister) father. She wrote back that any that would have known were gone, but the rumor she knew was that he was a cousin from the DeWells line. Twenty some years later a hint popped up naming Clarence LaForce DeWells, born 1896 in Chicago to Edward DeWells and Lucy LaForce. I have never found anything else on either Edward or Clarence. No birth certificate on Leah and she died when my dad was about 12 so I never met her. My dad's father was something evil out of a Cinderella story along with his 2nd wife or possibly his second wife along with her evil daughters was the problem, so my dad left his father's house at about 15, so I never met my grandfather either even though he lived in the area to about 78 yrs. of age. If you have any knowledge or hints I would appreciate! Lee

Lucy's parents
That is Lucy LaForce Sederberg! If you know anything about this family I have a big question in regard to her daughter Leah.

Lucy's parents
Lucy's parents were Mitchell Laforce and Matilda DeWells LaForce. You can find their engraved tombstone in Graceland Memorial Park in Valparaiso, Porter Co., Indiana. Wondering where you got their names if there was no tombstone for Lucy. Are you related? She was my paternal great grandmother.

RE: Sadie Skellenger #113089860
H'lo, Eva!

My name is John "Jack" Martin. I was born Lloyd Conley. My Find A Grave Member Number is: 47276882 and my memorial maintenance name in Find A Grave is Lloyd.

Sadie is my grand Aunt. Her memorial number is: 113089860. She was the sister of my grandfather, Harry Edward Skellenger.

She is buried next to my Great Grandmother, Alberta Burch Skellenger Leafbourg in
Ridgelawn Cemetery, Gary, IN. I have pictures of both Sadie (born Sada) and my G-grandmother.

I would be thrilled if you would transfer her to my number so that I may maintain her. Both Sadie and my grandfather died of peritonitis (sp?) at an early age. Sadie died one year after my grandfather. I very much suspect that they may have had diverticulosis that can result in diverticulitis. I have the same disease. Back in those days, it may have been difficult to diagnose or treat this problem. Left to fester, serious infection can develop in the colon and result in death.

Thank you very much in advance if you transfer it and I understand if you have a reason that you prefer not to.

Good luck with your genealogy efforts.

Jack

David Hopkins Memorial# 66370275
Hi Eva,
Jane sent me a photo of the headstone for David Hopkins Memorial# 66370275. She visited on Sunday with the owners of the B&B. She shared the information that you gave her and what I had to give to her.

I have posted the photo. I gave photography credit to Jane. Could you add to the two photos that David is her 4greats-grandfather. (He is my 5greats-grandfather).

She said the stone needs to be cleanup around it and on the stone. She said that once we clean the stone with the proper method we will be able to list all of the wording on the headstone.

Thanks!
Suz

No way!
Why are you researching Frances if you don't mind me asking? I'm going to look through my family tree for her.
