Evergreen Hill Memory Gardens Cemetary, Steger, IL
Hi Eva,

Would you happen to know if the list of Internments for Evergreen Hill Memory Gardens is a complete listing of all the graves in the cemetery? I ask because I remember my Great Grandfather Bernhardt Krause #138448211 taking me through there as a teenager and showing me several family graves long before most of the graves I am aware of on the site were placed there. This would have been several years prior to his death in 1994.

I have located at Evergreen:
Bernhardt Krause #138448211
Mathilda Hering Krause #138448333 (Berhnardt's Wife)
John Frederich (Fred) Hering #70698652 (Mathilda's Father)
Donald K Krause Sr #98433170 (Bernhardt and Mathilda's son)
Josephine LaCorte Krause #138443181 (Donald Sr's Wife)
Donald K Krause Jr #13844393 (13844393 (Donald Sr's & Josephine's Son)
Michale T Krause #98433123 (Donald Sr's and Josephine's Son)

By this list, the only deceased at the time my Great Grandfather took me to the cemetery would have been Mathilda and her father John Frederich. I believe there would have been others with he surnames Krause (like Bernhardt's parents August and Minnie) and Hering (John Frederich's wife Sophie). I did go through every name listed under internment and didn't recognize any other family names, so am wondering if that list is even complete yet. Thank you for any information you can provide!

Please change the order of pictures I don't want the article to come up first when I share his memorial.

RE: John (Jonas) & Anna (Malmberg) Hylander
My husband is Lance Edward Hylander; his father is Leonard Robert Hylander; grandfather is Edward Louis Hylander; great grandfather is Johan (John) Ferdinand Hylander; great great grandfather is Jonas Magnus Olofsson Hylander... and continuing further... 3X great grandfather is Olof Svensson... the only photos I have are of his father and grandfather, and not very many of them. Leonard died before my husband and I met. Are you related to the Hylander line?

John (Jonas) & Anna (Malmberg) Hylander
Hi Eva,

Just found the pages you posted for Jonas & Anna... another member also fulfilled my photo request for their gravesite. Sent you a couple of edits as well. Jonas & Anna are my husbandʻs 2X great grandparents... Thank you so very much for posting these pages. I also just attached their son, Johan Ferdinand Hylander, husbandʻs great grandfather, to them. Because of circumstances my husband did not know anything really about his Hylander ancestors and my research is introducing him to those folks. Kinda cool, actually... and Iʻm so happy to be able to do this for him and our children and grandchildren. I would be very happy to take on management of their pages.

Lowell Bennett
Mary was the only one of Lowell's four wives that was a nice person. Does she still live around there.

I received an e-mail from one of his daughter-in-laws when he died. I don't remember her name.

My e-mail is if you want to communicate off Find-A-Grave

Lowell Bennett was my first cousin, His mother and my mother were sisters.

His parents are interred in Chesterton Cemetery. Mother Lily Beatrice Lamphier Moomau Bennett.
Father: Lowell Howard Moomau. His father was killed before Lowell was born. His mother remarried Stanley Bennett. Lowell took the last name Bennett when he started school.

Which of Lowell's wives is she the daughter of?

Richard W. Krause
Thanks Eva. I can't find any on line records for Richard W. demise. I'll contact a mutual cousin to see if he has more info. I'll let you know if I learn anything.

I did find more on Richard M. If you look at his spouse's info it says they were both born and married in Michigan. That was also info you entered.

Thanks again, Norm

Richard M Krause
My name is Norman Neier. I live in Missouri but I am originally from Chesterton. I graduated from CHS in 1957, joined the Navy after graduation and haven't lived up there since then.

I am writing specifically about the memorial for Richard M Krause. His bith on the grave markers is listed as 1929. I think the family links you included are wrong. The military marker included lists him as an Army veteran.

You link him to parents: Carl A Krause and Dorothy Bolles Krause. You also created their memorials. They weren't married until 1932.

You list a son Richard William born 1936. A child born in 1936 would normally graduate high school in 1954 and college 1958. The obit info you included on the memorial indicated he graduated from Valpo U in 1958 and then joined the Coast Guard. This would match Richard William's bio information. Also a person born in 1936 would be too young to be a Korean War veteran.

Find a Grave for Richard: 86777589. For Carl A. 86777677.

I have been doing family geneology research for several years and just recently found the family tie to the Krause family in the Chesterton area. My maternal grandmother's maiden name was Krause.

I will try to find out through family contacts the history for Richard William.
