I grew up in East Tennessee and now live in West Tennessee. I became interested in genealogy in 2004 after my father and maternal grandmother (106yo) died.|
My paternal surnames of interest are Ellis, Harris, Cofer, Hays, Patton, Cooper, Bewley, and Carson.
My maternal surnames of interest are Quarles, Hamilton, McCrary, Brown, Line, Lindamood, Fry, and Barr.
My main counties of interest are Jefferson, Roane, Hamblen, Grainger, and Hawkins in Tennessee; Rockbridge and Wythe in Virginia; Rowan and Mecklenberg in North Carolina; Kent in Maryland; Schuylkill and Berks in Pennsylvania; and York and Chester in South Carolina.
Most of my ancestors immigrated to the United States during the 1600' and early 1700's from England, Ireland, Scotland and Germany.
Most of my ancestors were farmers and many were preachers or in law enforcement. Many of my ancestors were in the military during the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Mexican War, and Civil War. During the Civil War most of my paternal ancestors served in the Union Army and most of my maternal ancestors served in the Confederate Army.

|Evan McConnell Ellis||Hello John|
Ellis cousin here. I assume you are a descendent of John P. Ellis the Colonel's son. I descend from the Colonels cousin James.
|Kathy G. Current||McCrary|
I believe we are McCrary cousins. My great-grandfather Joseph Allen Current married Margaret Emaline McCrary in 1880 she was 21.Not sure if it were NC or TN as the state lines may have changed at some point. It fits with Census records, but I will visit Morristown, Hamblin TN and attempt to find evidence to prove the fact. They are both buried at Tabor Presbyterian Church Cemetery on Tabor Church Road, Iredell Co, NC. Their son Charles Sherrill Current married Minnie Bell Parlier, they had 5 children. Their son Frank Parlier Current married Betty Lois Fortner. Dad grew up in Greensboro, and mother in Statesville. They moved to southern Indiana, Evansville in 1952. They had 9 kids, one died. I'm 50, divorced and child #5. Just started scratching the surface of the McCrarys. I think you are also on Ancestry and findagrave as I am. I am not a paying member on ancestry right now, but I think I have some pictures from your tree.
Possibly your McCrary relative,
|Kathy Margrave||Absalom Adkisson|
Hi, John :) I have transferred management of Absalom's memorial to you. I have roots in Roane County TN, also. I do have a female Adkisson in my tree (that married a Margrave). I am not well organized and can't find her right now. I have added you to my "friends" so that I may contact you for more info on her sometime, if that's okay. Kathy
Hello John! I transferred to you today all the Quarles' that you had requested. I'm so happy that a family member has found them! I consider myself a "temporary" guardian for those memorials that are not my friends and/or family members. Have a very Blessed week!!
