RE: Rema Poplin
I know some of the contributor's care about the guidelines and some, like myself, feel like it is just so much hogwash. I sent a request for a transfer to someone and I got an e-mail back from a Find A Grave rep and they told me that I could not have the transfer, it to was a MELTON ancestor, so this is what I sent back to them:

I find it so hard to believe that the guidelines, for transfers, is so important. What difference does it make if the person is a spouse or a 7x GGrandparent and in between? I am a firm believer that family members belong with family. I have all of his information, family links and his obituary.

I have been a contributor for 5 1/2 years and have posted 6,336 memorials and I manage 6,496 as well. I do not follow the guidelines because of what I believe about families. I find it so cold, within the heart, that these guidelines even exist. Whoever wrote them, and all of those that agreed to them, did not take the feelings of family members into consideration.

Please explain to my why this is done. I really need to know because if I am a family member and really do not know what your website is all about and I go looking for my ancestors and find out that someone has put little or no information about them, then what good really comes from looking for them.

I am of the mind that if you are going to start something then you finish it, to the best of your ability, and if someone can make it better, with additional information why not let them. Who is it hurting, definitely not the person looking for their family members. I guess what I am trying to say is why not me, to make it better by adding the information that I have.

To start something and finish it is a wonderful feeling, otherwise, why even begin the process, if you don't care whether or not it gets finished at all.

Thanks for your time, CMelton #47057822

Now I know that it may not mean anything to you that I have all of the information, including a couple of obituaries, I have the family links as well. I only hope that you will find some kindness in your heart to understand what I was saying in the e-mail. Family is family and they belong with family. Thanks for your time, CMelton

RE: Rema Poplin
I do believe that you misunderstood me. She is a MELTON and she is part of my husband's family tree and I am so hoping that you would transfer her and all of the other MELTON's that I sent to you. My number is 47057822.

Rema is not a DeBoca. Her maiden name is MELTON.

Thank you, CMelton

RE: William H Gum
Thanks for changing the date. Sorry for being so vague on my first message. Only thing now, you can't link him to Sarah as his wife. They both died as infants LOL!! Thanks.

RE: William H Gum
The William H Gum you have that is buried in the Gum Family Cemetery in Mill Gap, VA. You have his death date as 17 Jan 1858. I just added a picture of his tombstone today. His Tombstone reads he died 19 Jan 1858. I double checked it with the Highland Co. deaths records and it stated 19 Jan 1858 too. Thanks Mark.

William H Gum
Sharon can you go on your memorial and correct William Gum death date. According to his tombstone and the Highland Co Death records his date of death is 19 Jan vice 17 Jan. Thanks! Mark

Hulda Tomlinson

I did more research on the H. Tomlinson grave marker in the Gum Cemetery in Highland County. I believe it is Hulda Gum's resting place the age at death was 58 instead of 38 placing the birth year as 1819. That date corresponds with census records that list Hulda being born in 1819.

RE: Giles Gum/ Priscilla Gum Tomlinson
Yeah, it is a small world! We have been in contact through Ancestry. I need to go check out his pictures as I am sure he has some I would like to have. Thanks for keeping me in mind! If you come across any other information about the Gum's or Tomlinson's I would be most interested. Thanks! Mark

RE: Russell Hanmer
Thanks Sharon. I've sent out a message to all of my cousins to get busy and post good pictures of their parents on the site. We're not getting any younger:). Hopefully you'll start seeing some of my aunt and uncles pictures as well. Thanks again. Linda
