|Bio and Links|
I have recorded the birth date, death date, and last address of your family members. Now it is your turn to edit and enhance their memorials, for the enjoyment of future generations.|
Thank you so much to the people who generously donate their time and money to provide information, photographs, and floral contributions to people who may never be able to thank them. I especially appreciate those who remember this is much bigger than ourselves and consistently maintain their memorials in a professional manner, treating others volunteers in the respectful way in which they like to be treated.
The "Relationship Link" feature is an amazing way to link family members and build your family tree. You can link each memorial to his/her parent(s) and spouse(s). To use this feature:
1) Select "Edit" next to "Family Links" or
"Link Family Members" for first link
2) Type in (or copy and paste) the memorial number of the parent(s) or spouse(s) in the appropriate box.
3) Select "Save Changes"
FINDAGRAVE MEMORIAL TRANSFER POLICY
First, Determine if you really need the memorial transferred to you for management. Transferring of management should only be requested If you have extensive changes to make to a memorial. You can add photos and suggest corrections without having to request management. Simply having someone in your family tree is not grounds for a management transfer request. With hundreds of thousands of contributors, we have many overlapping family trees and it would be impossible for all contributors to manage their entire tree.
Second, Transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations. This would be your siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Third, If you have extensive additions/changes to make to a memorial, please contact the Find A Grave member who created the memorial via the "Suggest a Correction" link under the "Edit" tab on the memorial in question with your request to have the memorial management transferred to you. This will send an email request to the contributor, even if there is not an email address listed on their contributor page.
Fourth, Explain your relationship in the request! Any non-direct relatives (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc) are not required to be transferred. Keep in mind that the original contributor may also be related to the memorial and may not make the transfer. Bulk surname requests should not be made. Be advised that memorials listed as famous or maintained by Find A Grave will not be transferred.
Fifth, The "Suggest a correction" feature may also be used to submit corrections, an original biography, and family links to memorials that do not fall under the above defintion. (Be sure to include the memorial ID#s for the family links and how they are related, father, mother or spouse. The original contributor should make any corrections and add any additional information you have for that memorial, such as links to parents and spouses, provided the information is accurate.
Sixth, Please note that it is not appropriate to request a transfer and then, after receiving the transfer, delete that page and substitute it with a new memorial that you have created. This practice denies credit to the original contributor. Please use the original memorial page to make updates and add information.
I HAVE HAD AN OVERABUNDANT AMOUNT OF BAD EXPERIENCES TRANSFERRING MEMORIALS TO MEMBERS WHO QUICKLY LOSE INTEREST AND ABANDON THE MEMORIALS I CREATED. WHEN I LOOK AT YOUR PROFILE AND I SEE YOU HAVE HAD HUNDREDS, OR THOUSANDS, OF MEMORIALS TRANSFERRED TO YOU, I WONDER ABOUT THE NECESSITY SINCE YOU ARE ONLY DIRECTLY DESCENDED FROM 30 PEOPLE ACCORDING TO FINDAGRAVE GUIDELINES. ONE TRANSFER REQUEST CAME WITH A NOTE ABOUT ALL OF THE BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION SHE HAD TO POST WHICH CONSISTED OF "THIS WAS MY FIFTH GREAT GRANDPAPPY WHO I LOVED VERY MUCH". THAT, SOMEWHAT SUSPECT, BIOGRAPHY COULD HAVE BEEN POSTED ON A FLOWER TRIBUTE. I RESEARCH ALL CORRECTIONS SUBMITTED TO ME FOR ACCURACY BECAUSE THERE IS A LOT OF MISINFORMATION AND FAMILY TREES WHICH ARE ALL MESSED UP ON RESEARCH SITES. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS I HAVE BUILT TWO SEPARATE FAMILIES IN FINDAGRAVE SO THAT THEY WILL BACKFEED CORRECTLY INTO ANCESTRY. I AM TICKLED TO RECEIVE NEW EDITS AND LINKS, AND AM EXTRA EXTRA EXTRA EXCITED ABOUT PICTURES AND STORIES TO PERSONALIZE THE MEMORIALS. AND I AM EXTRA EXTRA EXTRA UNHAPPY WHEN PEOPLE TRY TO GET ME TO REMOVE INFORMATION IN ORDER TO REWRITE THEIR HISTORY TO PLEASE THEM.
I AM AN UNBIASED CARETAKER WILLING TO POST ALL THE DOCUMENTED INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE AND HAVE WORKED VERY CLOSELY WITH OTHER FINDAGRAVE MEMBERS FOR YEARS EXCHANGING INFORMATION TO HELP BUILD YOUR FAMILY HISTORY. MOST OF MY DIRECT ANCESTORS WERE BUILT BY AN EARLY PIONEER TO FINDAGRAVE WHO POSTED ALL OF THE INFORMATION I REQUESTED AND TAUGHT ME HOW TO DO IMBEDDED LINKS BEFORE THE RELATIONSHIP LINK FEATURE WAS ADDED. OVER TIME I HAVE TALKED HIM OUT OF A FEW OF THEM, BUT NOW SEEMS TO HAVE MOVED TO FLORIDA AND FOUND SOMETHING BETTER TO DO WITH HIS TIME. [I'M TALKING ABOUT YOU BERN] PUH-LEEZE DON'T OBSESS ABOUT OWNING THE MEMORIALS OF EXTENDED FAMILY.

Thanks for the parents info for the above memorial. I have checked Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh (both on the internet and by phone) and neither parent is buried there. There are thirteen other Oakwood's in North Carolina (none in Wilson County) and no records of these parents in any. Suggestions?

|L. Finley||Alpheus Hinton O'Neal|
You sent an edit for Hinton with his full name and a birth date of May 1847. Do you have documentation for this date? I ask because his death is 11/21/1926, and the burial record states he was 75, which would have made his birth 1850 or 1851. If you have documentation I will add the birthdate. I did enter his full name.

Please consider including the burial location for HER, somewhere in the bio section on her page. Thanx

After watching the DVD of this woman's mother's life (Madame Marie Curie), I looked her up at Find A Grave - and noticed that you have duplicated the 'famous' page for her (Eve Curie).

Although Find A Grave rules disallow duplicate pages, I am glad that you have defied this directive, by including Eve's married name (which the first page does not) and leaving out the burial location! Congratulations for showing an ingenious way to avoid duplicating links between parents and children.
Please consider including the burial locations for Eve's parents, somewhere in the bio? and thanx for your work at this website project!

Love your philosophy on transfers.
I am currently dealing with the aftermath of an "obituary stalker" who threw all his memorials into one local cemetery. Then he died and his daughter took over, became unavailable for many years, died, and now her husband, three degrees removed, has inherited the account. So three times I've tried to get the corrections done to no avail. Now the husband is accepting transfers requests and I have people emailing me wanting me to delete my photographed and documented graves IN ANOTHER COUNTY because their newly transferred creation date supercedes mine. Why would anyone want an erroneous memorial preserved by requesting deletion of the actual grave photos?
When I was young, I had a Golden Book of "The Little Red Hen". I never knew I was the only one who read it!
|Sandra Terry Watkins||Lillie Belle Hinson Lynn (#46636275)|
My name is Sandra Marie Terry Watkins. My father was James Ray Terry, whom you spoke with regarding my paternal great-grandmother's bio information you quoted in the above Find-A-Grave memorial posting online. I respectfully request that you consider transferring her memorial over to me. Lillie (I called her "Ma-Lynn") was a treasure to me in my childhood. She died when I was 9-yrs-old, shortly after my younger sister was born. I am also a contributor to Find-A-Grave, though it has been a year since I've been able to contribute to the "cause" because I am desperately seeking information on my other paternal great-grandmother's death certificate (Annie Bell Jarred Terry, lived in Durham County, killed in Lee or Chatham County - her body was found in the Cape Fear River and it could not be determined which county she died in - buried in Mecklenburg County). She was violently murdered and despite her body being examined in 4 counties, no one seems to have her death certificate! However, I am dedicated to finding out about my family's history and would greatly appreciate it if you could transfer Lillie's memorial to me.

You should see the msg I got from this contributor today when I innocently asked for an edit. You are welcome to see the msg, but I will need to send to you by an email address.
You can email me at email@example.com
I work/volunteer for the county so this is a non-paying serious job for me. It's not nice to poo-poo on someone. we should work together.
|draybrown||RE: Abner Sidney Brown # 48006337|
Yes, that is the grave of Abner Sidney Brown, the nephew to my GGGF Abner S Brown, father to James F. Brown.
Below is a link on Ancesty.com to the tombstone request for Abner Sidney Brown 1840-1904, the ship to contact is his son John Irvin Brown. You can save a copy of the image. It lists his date of death 9 Feb 1904. The application was made March 16 1940 by John I Brown. The father of this Abner Sidney Brown is John David Brown b.12 Feb 1814 d. 7 Oct 1880, he is a brother to our Abner S. Brown b 1825 in Henderson Co, TN.
The Curl cemetery listing show no dates for birth or death on the tombstone erected for Abner S (Sidney) Brown, but the application is pretty clear...
I can give you more info on that Abner Sidney Brown if you want to contact me directly.
|LADONNA SANDERS||George William Sanders|
I did not mean for you to remove information about George.
I am merely asking if you have access to information I do not, i.e. his birth records? I would be very interested to know your sources because I could answer some questions about his adoption.
I would appreciate any information you have. Thank you.

Rebecca Ann Nethery Bowles is my great grandmother and I was told by someone on here that she is in the 4 generations rule,so why can't I get the transfer,is there a problem?
