Burl Viar #26215931 to include his full name Cecil Burl Viar born October 24, 1901 in Dyer County, Tennessee and died January 10, 1966 in Dyersburg, Dyer County, Tennessee. "Burl Viar Dies, Rites Said Today
Burl Viar of the Viar community, native and lifelong Dyer countian and a carpenter, died at three o'clock yesterday afternoon at Parkview Hospital following a heart attack. He was 64.
A member of a prominent pioneer Dyer county family, for whom the Viar community was named,
Mr. Viar was the son of the late Walter and Luna Bell Patterson Viar. He was the husband of Mrs.
Ardell Viar, who survives him.
Funeral services for Mr. Viar were held at three o'clock this afternoon, Tuesday, at Curry's Chapel.
The Reverend Ray Carson officiated. Burial was in Dyer County Memorial Gardens Cemetery with
Woodrow Welch, Wendell Walker, Will Seratt, Grady Seratt, Glen Rice, Billy Mallard, John Seratt and Freddy Moss serving as pallbearers. J.W. Curry and Son had charge of arrangements.
Besides his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Luna Bell Gaskins, Fowlkes, Mrs. Barbara Joyce Bumpious, Union City, Mrs. Lula Faye Porter, Humboldt, and Miss Brenda Gail Viar, at home at Viar; three sons, Cecil Lamar Viar, Dyersburg, Donald Wayne Viar, with the U.S. Air Force, stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, and John Randolph Viar, five brothers,Charles Viar, Flint, Michigan, Connie Viar, Memphis, Leroy Viar, Hardy, Arkansas, Stoy Viar, and Jack Viar, both of Dyersburg; three sisters, Mrs. Allie Seratt, McCullough's Chapel, Mrs. Mary Rice, Dyersburg, and Mrs. Myra Boon, Atlanta, Georgia; and seven grandchildren."
Published in Dyerburg's State Gazette newspaper on January 11, 1966.
