Mayflower Connection: I descend from the following |
Degory Priest, Francis Eaton, John Alden,Priscilla Mullins, Myles Standish, Peter Brown, Francis Cooke, George Soule, Isaac Allerton, Richard Warren, through my father, Member 27436, Society of Mayflower Descendants.
My uncle, Carl Glee Smith Jr is memorialized at Manila American Cemetery and Memorial in the Philippines. His life was lost during Typhoon Cobra, December 18, 1944 when three ships went down, USS Hull, USS Monaghan and his ship the USS Spence. I have attempted to leave notes at each of the memorials for the 793 sailors who lost their lives that day. I also see many other memorials that no one has left flowers or honored them, I am also honoring those as I have time. There are over 44,033 memorials at that cemetery. May God bless the thousands of families who suffered loss during WW II.
I am attempting to link many of Smith burials in an effort to help those who are just starting their family search venture. Descending from four Smith branches is a challenge. At the present time, I am linking Smiths from several states from Vermont, New York,Ohio to Illinois, Nebraska and Kansas. From Virginia through Kentucky to Arkansas. From Georgia, Arkansas to Texas.
In addition, I am documenting my Jones from New Hampshire, through Ohio, Illinois to Nebraska.
A few of my family lines are Blatherwick, Farrow, Gilbert, Wood, Kelsey, Evans, Blake, Cady, Watkins, Stewart, McCormick, Jones, Stiles, McDermott, Hoffman, Smith, Black, Brazle, Roth, Martin, Cole, Morgan, Oswalt
If you use my personal photos, please give me credit for the photo, this includes family photos posted as well as cemetery photos. Thank you.
I will consifer transferring memorials that are your direct family, but not my family line. I am not into numbers and am happy to share my work. I love to link family members and to know a bit about the person.

|Cynthia Dawn Higgins Page||Transfer of Donald Baillie|
Thank you so much for finding it in your heart to transfer the management of my grandfather's memorial to me. It means a lot to me. I am working pretty hard myself to add memorials also. It takes a lot of research to be accurate so families get the correct information, so I realize how hard you have worked to create the memorials you have. Thank you for letting go of this one.

Thank you for the great memorials you have added to Find A Grave. I know you are working very hard for those records. My Grandfather was Donald Anderson Baillie, Find A Grave memorial # 99940183. I would like to request you transfer his memorial to my management. I do not request transfers often, but it would really mean a lot to me if you would consider it. I was close to my grandfather, and it would mean a lot to me. Thank you, Cynthia Dawn Higgins Page
|Irene Drake||Lasiter family|
Vickye I discovered this site yesterday. I noticed your name on my grandpas site. His name is William Riley Lasiter. Are we related? I am Thomas Otto Lasiter's daughter and Macie Cleo Darnell's daughter. Would like to hear from you. I am Lillie Irene Drake but go by Irene. I just became a member of Findagrave last night. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org.

Vickye, that should work great! You are a sweetheart!
According to Ancestry, I am a 1st cousin, 3x removed.
Thank you for all your help, for the names of other children I did not yet have listed, and the names of those for which I only had initials. Thank you also for creating the links for the children.
You are very much appreciated.
|Jim Allred||Newton Jasper Fowler|
Vickye, A BIG THANK YOU! You even have the names of some of the children for whom I had only initials and some I did not have at all.
I have sent a researched email to JoLynn showing why her Newton nor Jasper were the one in this grave. Hopefully, she will delink Mary Liza (Mangrum) Fowler and her children. I wish I could help her find her correct graves. It is almost as they vanished. Some she may find on their old home place in DeKalb County.

Thanks Vickye, we're putting them all together one by one, ya know?
|BF McLaughlin||RE: Mary A Little Floyd|
Yes, that's a common mistake.
Rosamond (Bingaman) Little was John Little's second wife (m 1843), but because of census records etc etc and Maria (Armour) Little dying in 1842, confusion happened.
John and Maria Armour were born Sept 1832 in Randolph, Ill.
First wife Maria (Armour) Little died in 1842, and daughter Mary A. Little Floyd was born in 1836 and is the daughter of John Little. Even the middle initial "A" sort of helps back it up, if you think about it.
Therefore Mary A., James, Samuel, William and Cinderella "Jennie" Little were all born to Maria Armour, not to Rosamond Bingaman.
Elizabeth (b. abt 1844) is Rosamond's first child, and Rosamond goes on to have Sarah, Henry, Calvin, Martha, Ida and possibly even a Harvey (though I think that may be a typo of Henry).
Cinderella was the last child born to Maria, and I guess it's possible it was her childbirth that may have taken the life of Maria Armour in 1842. Cinderella was born in June 1842, but we don't have a definitive date within 1842 when Mary Armour died ... only that on her stone it says 1842.
But that's all the proof I have, the dates. It was actually another Little/Kell researcher who brought it up to me. I just happen to have a lot of the Old Covenanter Church online monuments and I'm just holding them until a relative comes along.
|Trish||August Gustav Schwabe|
Hi, Vickye-- I was in Farina Cemetery today, and I found an A. G. Schwabe, but the dates were 1866-1916. Could this possibly be the same person? I know how easy it is for dates to get mixed up over the years. Thanks--Trish

Thank you for taking the Memorial photo of my Great Grand Aunt, Anna McMillan Harper. I was wondering if you have any more information on the memorial for Anna Harper that you took? My 3X great grandfather, James McMillan's daughter was Anna (McMillan) Harper. My father, James McMillan, grew up on Monmoouth Illinois. He was raised in Monmouth my his grandmother Sarah Smith. Is there any connection to your family of Smiths? Or McMillan's?
Maria Young, email@example.com.
