When I'm not working, I try to work on local family genealogies. I update FindAGrave with the obituaries and funeral notices I find through Google's News Archives. This semester is pretty hectic, but I'm trying to update as much as I can.
PLEASE feel free to use any of the photographs of the headstones that I've taken on this site. I volunteer my time in order to help others with their genealogy. It would be nice to be notified if one of the pictures is being used, but I don't need it.
NOTE also that the obituaries I post (especially ones taken from Google News Archive) may or may not accurately reflect the date that the obituary was published. Most of the news papers I've encountered for the Beaver Falls area are fairly accurate, but there are a few where several dates are clumped under one heading. I try to make notes with the pictures I upload, but some may get missed.
I am looking for information on Anthonio (Anthony) Caputo, and Rafaella Greco Caputo. I am trying to find a connection with my Great Grandmother. She had a brother Anthony listed in her obituary from Freedom, PA, and I think this might be the same one, is there any way to get a copy of his obit.? also my 95 year old aunt seems to remember a Rafaella from Freedom when she visited there... could possible be the same... would also like a copy of her Obit if possible... I have Anthony's birth year listed as 1862 in Cosenza, Italy?? this Antonio was born in 1861, so my calculations may be off... thank you in advance, keeping my fingers crossed for a connection, and that one piece of information that will get me back one more generation....
Elizabeth Wooley Bird #79824610 Elizabeth was born in the Radford District of Nottingham, England, and may have been married prior to her marriage to Horatio Charles James Bird on 2 October 1836. They immigrated 11 April 1842 through the port of New Orleans and came up the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers to the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, area. They settled in New Brighton, Pennsylvania, in the 1860s, where Elizabeth died on 6 September 1877. Two children were born in Nottingham: Ann, who married Mannon McPherson, and Eliza. A son, Charles, was born in the U.S., served in the Civil War and died in Salisbury Prison, North Carolina, as a prisoner of war.
I would appreciate it if you would add the above to Elizabeth's memorial #79824610. Thanks so much for all you do on Findagrave.com! Ruth M. Thompson #48247064

Memorial #79824690, Horatio Bird Hi, Horatio was my gr-gr-grandfather. His full name was Horatio Charles James Bird, born in Radford District, Nottingham, England. His parents may have been John and Mary Bird. His family for several generations had been lace-makers in Nottingham, altho he was noted as a bricklayer on the ship's passenger list. He and Elizabeth were married 2 October 1836 in Nottingham St. Mary's Church and immigrated to the U.S. on 11 April 1842. They came on the ship Berwick to New Orleans, intending to settle in Texas. On hearing of a typhoid epidemic in Texas, however, they changed plans and traveled up the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers to the Pittsburgh PA area and settled there. In 1860 he is listed as a bricklayer and 1870 a farmer. Horatio died in New Brighton on 29 January 1884. Please add any or all of the above to his memorial. Thank you for all you do on Find A Grave -- terrific website!
Oliver H. Moore Hi. I sent some edits to you via the edit button for Oliver H. Moore (Sylvania Hills Memorial Park) as to parents and dates/locations of birth and death from his PA Death Certificate. I've been researching the Houlette family. His mother was Deborah Houlette, daughter of my GGG Grandfather, Oliver Cunningham Houlette. Thanks.
