Bio and Links
Bio Photo I began my family ancestry research in 2007 after the loss of my brother, grandmother, and father-in-law within a 1 year period...I just wish that I had started this sooner when those who could answer my questions were still around--not to mention identify people in old pictures...I have just recently signed up as a volunteer for my local cemeteries...it is very peaceful to take a break and help others find their ancestors resting places...there is something very comforting in returning the favor for others who have helped me...

As I find family members, I am creating memorials for them and linking them with the family. The only memorials I have are family members so if you would like more information or have questions, please email me. My family research is ongoing and these memorials are in conjunction with researching so I am slow about creating them but very much working on it.

I am currently also checking and/or creating memorials from the stone readings of the following cemeteries:

Woodlawn Cem Photo Request
Hi. I am a Find A Grave volunteer and would be happy to take your requested tombstone photo(s) at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Urbana, Illinois. The problem is, the cemetery cannot release burial information to a volunteer. It involves the privacy act. Check the front page of the cemetery memorial to see their policy. If you can include the burial location, section, block, etc., then volunteers can get those photos for you.

David & Ellen Sims
I have checked the cemetery records and found a possible burial location for David but could not find Ellen. There is a Sims plot with a Claire and Charlie Sims in the middle. Records show that a couple of bodies are buried on each side of them but no names except that someone wrote in on one of the body locations, David Sims's name. Claire and Charlie have head stones but no other head stone are there. Would you like for me to post a picture of the area for them, if you feel confident that they are the two buried there?

Just look at paper work and it was the War of 1812. But some of the paperwork in incorrect. I will look into this and hopefully find the correct info. I have edited the dates to unknown at this time. Thank you. Joe

RE: Calvin Kimbrough
I am reading in the history of Edgar County book from 1897, that he died in 1833, and it also listed him in the Blackhawk War. There may be 2 Calvin Kimbrough, but this is the only one I am aware of. Do you still have the cemetery listing? and if so could it be scanned and emailed to me?

McCoy Family
I found your memorials while checking on John McCoy. My great grandfather was Sam McCoy from Monroe Co., IN.

His parents were John and Mary Ann McLary McCoy. John's parents were Cornelius and Ailcy Ann Stevens McCoy.

I remember Sam. I was 9 years old when he died. Great Grandpa was one of 7 children: Sarah Jane, Martha, Julia Ann, Sam, Malinda, Hugh and Lewis. I keep in contact with Lewis' daughter,Olive.

The whole Hatfield/McCoy feud is fascinating. Grandma said we were related to the feuding McCoys, but I haven't found a connection. Maybe it was wishful thinking. Actually, I think the McCoys populated several states making it difficult to figure out if we are indeed related.

Just a heads up.....
Memorials are to be entered with the names as listed on the tombstone, according to Find a grave guidelines, with information about spouses in the bio section. The last few memorial changes, that you have sent, were for memorials that were created using the information taken off the tombstone. However, since there are no photos yet we have gone ahead and accepted the changes.
