A native-born resident of Marshall, Texas, I have begun researching my family's gravesites in the surrounding areas. From Avinger to Upshur County to sites all over Marshall and towns in and around Harrison County. |
I have walked and photographed markers in and around Harrison County at many of the cemeteries. My goal is to walk, locate, and record them all. I try to locate and add GPS coordinates every so often at the around 200 cemeteries in our county; I have even had funeral homes ask me to help them locate burial sites. If the markers are legible, I have photographed them and added them on here if missing. More get added all the time, and I try to stop and check for new ones now and then.
I have found hidden and lost cemeteries in Harrison County and added them to this website, like most recently Saint Marks and Cornerstone in the Harleton area, Pace Memorial Garden in the Hallsville area, and Elizabeth Cemetery in eastern Harrison County near Leigh. I am trying to gather info on Harrison County cemeteries that have incorrect directions or none and locate them so they accurately appear on the Maps tab; if you know where one is but can not get to it, let me know! Sipps Cemetery is one of my newest attempts at finding the exact location.
* New cemetery found and added 5/2/15: Pine Grove COGIC Cemetery in Waskom.
I want the memorials for cemeteries in my area, and that my family are in, to be as complete as possible for future generations.
Please use the 'Edits' tab to submit changes or request a transfer, not through 'Messages'.
If you have your messages disabled or your email is not available, please do not leave me an odd edit request. If I cannot contact you to verify sources or if I have a question, your edit may be declined. Reasonable changes are rarely questioned.
Also per Findagrave guidelines, I will not add an obituary, or link to an obituary, to a memorial without permission from the original media publisher.

Your Welcome sir
|Margie Hargis||Ellis Hargis|
Thank you for photographing his memorial. I am wondering if this could be transferred to be maintained by me as Ellis was my late husband's uncle. Would appreciate your input. Margie Hargis

Thank you for taking and adding the headstone photos for my grandfather Benjamin Watson "Butcher" Wills, Sr., his kids,and his granddaughter. I have been trying to have someone locate and add these for years without any success. Much appreciation.

Individuals using this site need to realize that we are all volunteers and do not and should not need to deal with abusive behavior or rudeness. That is why I created a virtual cemetery for people of Milam County, Texas not in their transcripts.
Thank you for taking and adding the headstone photo for Kenneth McKinley...

I was wondering if you knew anything about the unmarked graves at the Piney Cemetery, near Harleton,TX. I have heard that they are the graves of the Smallpox victims. Dr. J. F. Mattox was my great-great grandfather. He, his wife Sarah "Sally" Jane Carrington Mattox, and daughter Mabel all died in 1905 from Smallpox. There are no markers for Sarah and Mabel.

I would like to ask permission to use your photos of the above named memorial, as well as, Bettie Rose Love #13374096, and Ruby Irene Love #45656835, for my family history and on Ancestry.com. James is my second cousin once removed. I would, of course, credit you with the photos.
Thank you for the work you do, it is appreciated.
