It seems no matter where my family lived growing up we always lived within walking distance of a very old small cemetery. I grew up taking many walks through the cemeteries and reading the enscriptions on the old headstones and wondering what thier lives were like. So when I found this website I thought it was GREAT! I became a find a grave volunteer photographer and really enjoy traveling to all of the cemeteries around Iowa. I don't think many people are aware of the different kinds of unusual cemeteries there are out there! A little about what I do when I get a photo request: I first look to see if there are many in that cemetery listed on find a grave and I print out the list if it isn't very long. Then I go and take photos of not only the one requested but also of any others listed for that cemetery that do not yet have a gravestone listed. I will post the photo. If I have posted one on one of your ancestors and you don't want it there please just let me know and I will remove it! Also I take any photos of head stones with the same last name of the person requested and send them to the requestor if they are not listed on find a grave. The reason I do this is maybe the requestor doesn't know their ancestor is buried in that cemetery or they haven't gotten around to posting that person yet. This way they will have the photo when they decide to post them. Also if I have posted a photo of a headstone on your site please be sure to click on the photo because I always write down what the headstone says. Sometimes a given name might be spelled differently or the dates might be different from what the person has posted. And I will post what ever scripture might be on the stone that I can make out.|

Thank you for your posting of the cemetery markers of Hilma and George Kilen. I appreciate the time and effort you took to take and post the photos.

Thank you so much for taking time, going out to the cemetery, locating the graves, and providing me via Find-A-Grave, gravestone photos for James, Delilah and Mollie Miller. I don't usually ask for something like this, but they just created such a challenge for me starting in the mid 1970's, and ending when I found them in the censuses in the early 2000's. Thanks again!! The wrong photo has been deleted. Thanks again for bringing it to my attention Cindy.
Thank you for fulfilling my request for the photo. May I copy it to my ancestry tree with credit for you taking the picture. Respectfully yours, Wildflower

Hiesela, thank you for taking the photos for me. I contacted the person who added the wrong photo to infant Eikenbary and asked them to remove photo. Yours is the correct one. That wrong photo belongs to Girl Eikenbary(they were siblings). Anna and Charles lost three infants that are buried there. Thanks again for letting me know about the wrong photo and taking the others Cindy.

Yes, that would be wonderful. Do you have the other pictures? Thanks

Thanks also for the other pictures. I haven't yet figured out how everyone is related, but they certainly add to the memorial pages and I am so grateful to you for taking the time to take all of those pictures.

Would you like to add an additional marker photo for Arthur? Should I click the "request photo" button on his memorial? I'm writing myself a note to create memorials and request photos for Kornelia's and Arthur's parents and their other siblings I haven't found on findagrave; thank you!
