Bio Photo Still living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where most of my ancestors have lived. My passion for genealogy drives me to help others find their roots. Please feel free to contact me whether family or genealogy searcher.
In 2007 when searching for Kocinski headstones, I decided to document old cemeteries on the South Side of Pittsburgh. Below are the current list of cemeteries I have completely documented.
St. Adalbert's Cemetery on Brownsville Road, Pittsburgh, Carrick, Pennsylvania started May 2007 and finished November 2007.
--Maps of my 'descriptive' location within the cemetery is included as one of the photo on St Adalbert's Cemetery main page.
--Deaths after May 2007, may not be listed.
St Josephat's Cemetery on Glass Run Road, Pittsburgh (Baldwin), Pennsylvania started April 2009 and finished May 2009.
--Maps of my 'descriptive' location within the cemetery is included as one of the photo on St Josephat's Cemetery main page.
--Deaths after April 2009 may not be listed.
Loretto Cemetery on Devlin Street, Pittsburgh, South Side, Pennsylvania started in May 2009 and finished August 2009.

Story from contributor Phyllis Seaman-Eckert about her aunt who died at age 2 and burial location:
There are graves down over the hill at the 1st part of the circle. Apparently, many children were buried down there. In fact, we were always able to locate her grave because it was near a rather large above-ground structure for a Spanish or Mexican child.

--Maps of my 'descriptive' location within the cemetery is included as one of the photo on St Josephat's Cemetery main page.
--Deaths after August 2009 may not be listed.
St Peter's Cemetery on Arlington Avenue, Pittsburgh, Mt Oliver, Pennsylvania started in August 2009 and finished September 2009.

--Maps of my 'descriptive' location within the cemetery is included as one of the photo on St Peter's Cemetery main page.
--Deaths after September 2009 may not be listed.
St Michael's Cemetery on 18th Street, Pittsburgh, South Side Pennsylvania started in September 2009 and not finished

William Fleming "William" Abel # 141873953
I am afraid your Bio on this person is largely incorrect. It may have been copied verbatim from my family Tree on Ancestry but I now know that this person does not belong to my Tree. "My" William F. Abel was born on 23 Jan 1874 in Pittsburgh but this is not he. His parents are not Wilhelm and Dorothea (Demme) Abel and he is not related to any of the siblings you have listed. The date of death for this William Abel is correct and he was married to Marie DeSalles (Coyle) Abel, the Mary D. Abel # 141873997 in Find a Grave. I believe that this William Fleming Abel was born in Pittsburgh on 2 April 1873 to Adam Joseph Abel and Louisa Marchand -- this needs to be verified. Thank you.....Douglas F. Hardy, M.D.

RE: My Grandmother's Grave
She was Stefania Malewski (Malewska on the headstone), at St. Adalbert's Cemetery, born in 1902, died 1941. There is music inscribed on the bottom of the headstone. I think my dad said it was the beginning of Schubert's Ave Maria.

My Grandmother's Grave
I just wanted to thank you for posting these photos. had free access to the 1940 census this week, and I learned that my father's mother was living at Mayview State Hospital at that time. My father was deeply affected by losing his mother, first to hospitalization, then to death, but he never wanted to talk about it when I asked, so I don't know any details. I have a memory of visiting her grave when I was 3 or 4, on our only trip to the Pittsburgh area, but obviously could not remember where it was. (My father did not keep in touch with his relatives.) I have a few pieces of geneaological history that I got from Ancestry during their free promotions, but I would love to know more. I have contacted the state archives to see if I could find any more information about my grandmother's medical history. I found that they have records from Mayview, and I have requested access.

Thank you again for the photograph.
Sincerely, debraanders

Ella Viola Little
I have sent an edit to correct the maiden surname for Ella Viola Little. I shouldn't have depended on the newspaper(should have double checked). The surname should be Slentz(not Shutz).

Sorry for the problem.

Thank you for your time.

Harry A Little/Samuel Little
Although there is information which collaberates there could be problems, I don't currently know enough to determine if the Harry Little grave at Sweckely is a duplicate or if Samuel Johnson Little should be attached to Highwood instead of Sweckley. I was hoping you might know(such as adjacent cemeteries). At this point, I'm afraid to make a determination. Everytime I make a circumstantial decision, I'm usually wrong.

If I'm able to figure this out, I'll get back.

Thank you for responding.

Doug S.

Michalina Zaroda/Zasada
Roseanne, Thank you for extensive work and research. I found my G Grandparents grave 4 years ago in St. Adalberts. I also found my G Aunt in Loretto cemetery at that time , too. I did a search through the Diocese of Pittsburgh and they came up with a name of Michalina as Zasada.
