Twenty-five years ago a friend told me she had a new hobby, genealogy, and how much fun she was having. I immediately contacted my mother who informed me that we owned three family Bibles. I have been deep into this ever since. I started with my mother's family in Loudoun County, VA. Her parents were third cousins, a fact she did not know. Of course I added my father's family, my husband's family, and both my daughter-in-law's and son-in-law's families. Then by adding wives, mothers, sisters, brothers, ancestors, descendants, I have ended up with a database of about 37,000. All are related to me or to someone I am related to. Most of my time has been spent in Loudoun County, Virginia. I wrote two books on Union Cemetery in Leesburg, a book on Monocacy Cemetery in Bealsville, Montgomery County, MD, Death Records of Fairfax County, VA, and co-authored books on the Death Records of Loudoun County, VA and Marriages after 1850 in Loudoun County, Va. I have also been involved in the preparation of Cemetery Books published by Thomas Balch Library. All of these books are available through Heritage Books.
I am more than happy to share any information I have. My cemetery pictures are there for anyone who needs them. They have been taken over the last 19 years. I will ask that you let me know if you are using a family picture because that means you are probably at least a cousin and I want to know you.
If you see errors, please let me know. Let's get all these people linked! But PLEASE everyone, use the Edit button on the memorial that needs changing! It takes about 2 minutes to make changes using that button. It can take 1/2 an hour or more to find the memorial you would like changed, if you don't use that button, and often I cannot be sure if I am looking at the correct person even then. In that case I may spend an hour or more looking. That takes away from someone else's time. Be fair!
Various BELL edits in Union Cemetery Betty, Thank you for so quickly attending to the minor edits that I am submitting. I have LOTS of family in this cemetery and I want to tie a lot of them together, as needed. You are so kind to generate these memorial pages for them and your help is greatly appreciated by me, and others. Thank you.
Picture on George Potts memorial Betty, could you remove the picture you took of my parents stone from, 2010? I have put a new one on with Mom's death information. Memorial number 53736066 in Hillsboro cemetery. Thank you
Martha Sewell Hepburn Duplicate Memorial Hi Betty; Thanks for pointing out that I had duplicated Martha Hepburn's memorial at Christ Church in Worton. I have removed the duplicate memorial and added the gravestone photo to the other memorial. I believe all of the links are correct. Thank you. Steve Keefe
