Bio Photo I grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, now live in Arlington, Virginia. I am looking for graves of my ancestors. On my mother's side, they were Scots-Irish, who arrived in Kentucky from Virginia in the mid-1700s, and English, going back to the first arrivals at Jamestowne. On my father's side, they were Russian Jews who arrived in the 1880s to the Lower East side. They are concentrated in New York and New Jersey, especially in the many cemeteries of Queens.

Molly West
Oh wait... I do not think Mary and Mollie are the same person. It could just be that George was a Polygamist which is not entirely uncommon in the area at the time. Especially after the Civil War with the man shortage and all. I have at least 4 cases of Polygamy in my extended and collateral family trees.
In the 1900 Census, Nancy Carpenter West was listed as having 10 Children total with 8 still living. This only makes sense if Mary (Listed in 1880 Census died prior to the 1900 Census). And somewhere between 1800 and 1900, George West took Molly as a wife, either formally or informally
(ie common law). This would make him less of a Cad. And in the context of the times, it was acceptable.
I need to reflect this in the Find A Grave memorial unless you have evidence I do not have.

Molly Johnson mystery
The Mary West that is listed in the 1880 Census with George and Nancy in Brush Creek the same as Mollie E West who is listed with George and Betty in 1900 Census in Brush Creek?
Note: It is also likely that Kilpatrick is Molly's son but I have not been able to find direct evidence of this as of yet.
I would say that it is very likely that Molly descends from Daniel Johnson and Susan Goodin. I need to review Tax records for other Johnson's in the area.

Mallie O. Johnson who is living with Alfred and Unity Johnson in Muhlenberg, Kentucky in the 1880 Census does not appear to the Mollie Johnson who is being raised by Nancy and George West. Also, there is a record for a Unity Johnson in 1900.

Could it be that Molly West is a daughter of Nancy's and an Unknown Johnson or a Johnson who died prior to Nancy marrying George. The 1880 Census has her being born in 1863.

Johnson's Knox Ky
Are you certain that your Molly Johnson West's parents are Alfred and Unita Johnson from Muhlenburg? I have let my Ancestry membership lapse for a while so proving or disproving this will be difficult at the moment.
There are other Johnson's in the area that have a connection to my Lay lines:
Mary Margaret Johnson (18411900) d/o Daniel Johnson (18031880) and Susan Goodin (18041877) md. James R. (Mose) Hamilton (18461929) {Find A Grave Memorial# 39933436}.

George West
Hi Rod,
I sent you an edit for George West.
So you live in Arlington. I have a grandfather buried in the National Cemetery. Beautiful place.

Hi Rod,
Thank you for the information. I have added it to Molly's bio. I softened it a bit but if you wish for me to just add your original, I can.
I plan to add a link to your profile page in the bio; as well as other details.
I have errands I must tend to first.
Funny, I just revisted this family in my tree last week and I could not figure them out. Now I know why.

RE: W. Maurice and Mary Louise Johnson
You might want to add the info about their birthdates to their bios via the memorial manager through the Edit tab under option 6 and cite your source(s). Otherwise, this might become an issue in the future. :) Just a thought.

I have received a public message from the other photographer. She has chosen to remove the photo. In that case, I will keep my claim active and fill your request for both Mary & Maurice ASAP.

Another volunteer photographer has taken a photo of the shared headstone and posted it on his memorial. I have contacted that photographer and asked that she upload the same photo to Mary's memorial as well. It's early but at this time, I've had no response. If you wish, you can contact that volunteer & make the same request via the Edit tab on either memorial. I will then remove my 'claim' on your photo requests for these memorials. :) Please let me know if all does not go as hoped.
