Bio Photo Available for you here in Santa Cruz County, California! (I'm in Watsonville, CA area on Wednesdays.) Giving back to other Find A Grave folks for likewise being provided for by others around the USA... Your cross-country trip is my 2-minute drive! Ready to help, back up, or add to other contributors in our team effort searches! Also, all my pics are public domain to be used by anybody freely, permission given, as I am not egocentric or after $$ or personal credit. Add them to matching billiongraves.com profiles if you want to!

I try to go the extra mile when fulfilling a Find A Grave request: I look (and inquire the cemetery office) for nearby same-names that may be previously overlooked or unknown relatives... I clean the marker of dirt and bird droppings (Eww!) and trim the grass around them... I know that these photos are of your relatives, friends and loved ones: They deserve a quality portrait for all to see!

I will offer (to the "Edits" tab suggestions of the memorial manager) the cemetery office's plot coordinates, if the memorial doesn't have them, as well as any other important and appropriate info I find.

IN MY OPINION:
The primary intention of gravestones is to mark the location and provide information of the interred. But they do not last forever. When a gravestone no longer fulfills it's purpose, it should be replaced, especially before the info on the gravestone is lost. That being done, placing the old gravestone inside an onsite cemetery museum out of the elements seems the ideal thing to do!

UPDATE! FIND A GRAVE RAISED THEIR MANDATED PIC SIZE TO 8.0MB MAXIMUM!

(PLEASE: I REQUEST THAT MY PIC REQUESTS BE AT LEAST 2.0MB. ALSO, THAT THEY BE FREE OF OBJECTS OR VEGETATION BLOCKING THE MARKER'S INFO OR TEXT! THANK YOU!)

I'm willing, upon request, to retake my earlier pics that were taken when the mandatory resolution/size was much smaller.

I use my Ancestry.com account's search engine to find facts that requesters may want to add to their Find A Grave memorials.
I also add clipped obits from my newspapers.com account.
I've been told that I've successfully helped many requesters make important discoveries for their genealogical research.

Again, as always, I'm willing and glad to help, as others have helped me in my own family tree research.

Hi Richard,

Thanks for checking on my photo request and discovering that it is an unmarked grave. One suggestion. I don't mind at all if people take a picture of an unmarked grave. It gives you a photo credit and it makes a note for future reference that it is an unmarked grave.

Thank You
Hi,

Thank you so much for taking and posting the photos for Stephen and Susan Balla and John and Julianna Belan in Pioneer Cemetery. I truly appreciate it.

I am curious about something, though. Do you recall if there was a person buried near them that was born in about 1858 in Hungary and died in or about 1930? I have been trying with no luck to track down the father of the Stephen Balla and the Julianna Belan you took photos of. Their father was Steven Balla, but he is said to have changed his name, which has unfortunately been forgotten.

Take care,

William
