I love family history and have been doing genealogical research for years. I am thankful for others in my family that have done a lot of leg work for me.
If you send me a correction, please do not be offended if I ask for your source. I do not want to mislead anyone and only add that which can be documented. The Russians say, "Doveryai, no proveryai," translated "Trust, but verify!"
:) Thanks for your swift response, Geoff. Sometimes one has to wait for weeks to hear back so it's a "treat" to hear back so soon. :) All is well here....just "digging" around in the graveyards, trying to hook everyone up. :) Blessings to you, Janice
Heads up Hi Geoff, Just wanted to let you know I put a memorial photo on Arthur G. Spaid #110741196 page, along with your photo's. I was "digging" around in the old Hartford cemetery yesterday and saw this stone. I searched on F.A.G. and the only Arthur was yours and the death date matched up. ( I believe it was beside the large stone with the parents.) Arthur's name being on the side of their stone, I thought, possibly, they had a stone for him, but the family put Arthur's name on the end of the parents stone as well. If you think I'm wrong, let me know and I'll create another memorial. Just didn't want to duplicate. :) Blessings, Janice Dyer Doran
Valentine Secrest :) Geoff, I see you have already changed Valentine's memorial....I sent you your information and when I went to view...you had already changed it. Just disregard my info. You are really fast. :) Thanks for taking care of this in such a swift manner. I'm on a mission to try and "connect" all my lines (and there are many) on F.A.G. Love this site. Blessings, Janice Dyer Doran
Thank you, Thank you so very much for creating Samuel N.'s memorial. I've trying to locate his place of burial for some, I'm a member of the Sons of Union Veterns of the Civil War and been documenting all those who descend from my ancestor Rev. War Vet. Joshua Ford (Foord). Samuel served with the 32nd Maine Inf. and was wounded in his right arm which was amputated which he died as a result.
Further interesting notes of Samuel's headstone. The birth date of John H. exists but not his death date because he left Sumner and went to Mass. married and had a family. It is said he went to Riverside, CA after the 1930s.
Finally, on the bottom of the headstone is the inscription 1888 S. N. S. 1942. That refers to Samuel's nephew Samuel Norton Stetson, son of Ten Broeck W. Steton.
As with all FindaGrave photos I would like to put on my Ancestry Family Tree, I would like persmission to use yours of the Stetson family and others I might come across later. I always credit photos off of FindaGrave by the individual's membership #. Thanks Ryan
Thank you for getting me to make the updates for Joseph Robinson and his wife, Patty Spaulding. I hadn't worked on their memorials for quite some time. I have been busy with other projects.
I have an old photo of me between the gravestones of Dea. Increase Robinson and his wife, Rebecca Bourne, taken in 1989. I am descended from his sister, Abigail Robinson who married Isaac Bonney. Then back through the 3 generations of Increase Robinson before them.
When I saw your name I thought it was the Head Archivist at the Maine State Archives by the same name.
