Blessed are the great grandmothers, who hoarded newspaper clippings and old letters, for they tell the story of their time.

Blessed are all the grandfathers who filed every legal document, for this provides proof.

Blessed are grandmothers who preserve family Bibles and diaries, for this is our heritage.

Blessed are father who elect officials that answer letter of inquiry, for some, this is their only link to the past.

Blessed are mothers who relate family traditions and legends to the family, for one of her children will surely remember.

Blessed are the relatives who fill in family sheets with extra data, for them we owe the family history.

Blessed is any family whose members strive for the preservation of records, for theirs is a labour of love.

Blessed are the children who will never say, "Grandma, you have told that old story twice today."

I believe Minerva's date of death (1884) is incorrect on her page. It looks like 1881 on her stone with W.P. Burks and he married Louise Ledbetter in 1882. Just an observation.

In the entry below you say that Mary was the daughter of Robert Bowman. How do you know this? Do you have any more info about Mary? Was she Mary Ann? And do you have any more info re Robert? His occupation? Any dates and places of birth?Anything in fact! Is this because you've seen the marriage certificate? Do you know how to get a copy?
Keep up the good work!

I just enlarged and enhanced the photo of his tombstone, and it does say 1814 is when he died.

I believe the March 5,1795 date is the date he and Margaret married. He is in the 1800 and 1810 Federal Census Records in Sumter, South Carolina with the children and Margaret.

I have seen one record that says he died 5 Mar 1814 at Cherryvale Plantation, Sumter, South Carolina. I think this is more accurate.

Best regards,

For Henry Bradford Vaughan

If his date of death is correct, then none of the children listed as his can actually be his since they were all born well after he died.

There were at least two Henry Vaughan/Vaughn people living in Mississippi between ~1830-1870. One is the son of John Bradford Vaughn and the other was supposedly the son of Henry Bradford Vaughan. Both were from South Carolina. I am trying to figure them out. If Henry Bradford Vaughan died in 1795, then Henry Vaughn b 1800 cannot be his son, however.

If you have any information regarding these folks, I would appreciate hearing from you.

Best regards,
