An attempt here is to shoot, enhance & upload monument photos... rather than blindly making new FAG profile entries that largely seem readily available from other online resources here in New York State. Gratitude is extended to those significant contributors who readily transfer management of FAG profiles of related persons that may have added without holding good background data on the deceased individuals. A warm thank you to these many FAG contributors -- your efforts are strongly appreciated. Soldiers & Sailors, in particular Civil War Veterans, are another area of strong personal interest and a significant attempt is made here to better document their gallant service to the USA.
There is a major exception to a general personal rule of creating FAG profiles only when a good monument photo is secured. Current effort is completed working from an unsigned & undated typewritten 16-page document (perhaps circa early-to-mid-1900's) entitled "Records Old Cem., Jefferson Village" (with several 1950-1970's handwritten edits & corrections), a record found on file at the Schoharie County Historical Society at Old Stone Fort Library in Schoharie Village, NY. Some of these document corrections appear to be in the hand of former Schoharie County Historian Mildred Bailey. Original data listed therein likely reflects Jefferson Cemetery burial status prior to WWII, in part produced from monument readings gathered in the DAR's circa 1930 Schoharie County, NY inventory of local cemeteries. The record is likely the best information available regarding Old Jefferson Village Cemetery. Among the 300+ burials at Jefferson Cemetery are landowners & farmers --- my 4th Great Grandparents Isaac & Hannah (Smith) Odell, both who passed away in 1840. Jefferson Cemetery is located about 250 yards north of Main Street in the center of the Hamlet of Jefferson, Schoharie County, NY, USA. A narrow cemetery access is marked on Main Street by a small cemetery sign. Many of the 100+ previously unrecorded internment at F-A-G are the burials of infants, toddlers, and young adults.
Visitors are welcome and may freely use any of my growing public FAG contributions or Ancestry.com information & photos under the educational "fair use doctrine" -- use any of my unaltered photos without additional permission or contact. My total intention in making FAG contributions and Ancestry.com public tree information is to educate my current and unknown future descendants -- especially including very distant cousins.
