Bio and Links
Bio Photo After almost 32 years of law enforcement experience then retirement into the peace and solitude of the Rocky Mountians of Colorado. I have decided to embark on a quest to find out the origins of both my maternal and paternal families. This quest has taken me througout the Confederate States of America with paternal family members serving with the 33rd Mississippi Infantry (Leake Rebels)and to the Boarder Lands of Texas and Mexico with maternal family members serving either with the armies of Poncho Villa or fighting against him. Along the way I have located long lost relatives and brought families back together. I have also gathered up information and taken photographs that I hope will help others in their search.

I believe when the obit was written they may have planned a burial in Kansas and changes their mind. His wife is buried in Colorado too. See her findagrave. This is a puzzle as there is a tombstone in Kansas too

Thank you for the information. Family buried there are Bevill from my paternal grandmother's Blincoe line. I followed flooding and aftermath on the news and Internet. Know it was terrible for the entire community. That area is a pretty place. Didn't know at the time I had family buried there. Traveled to Estes Park through the Big Thompson Canyon some 44 years ago with grandparents when I was about 6 years old and fell in love with the area. Stayed at 7 Pines in a tiny log cabin on the river's edge. Had an aunt working as head housekeeper at the Stanley Hotel and uncle was the grounds keeper. Then was stationed at the Air Force Academy Hospital from 1977-1982 and had the opportunity to visit the canyon and Estes Park several times. My son graduated from Univ. of Colo. - Colorado Springs Campus in 2009 and works for Lockheed Martin Space Systems at Deer Creek Facility in canyon west of Littleton. I had the opportunity to go through the Big Thompson Canyon in April of 2011 and have lunch in Estes Park and drive past the Stanley. We hiked a trail in Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park for about 2 1/2 hours in 60 degrees and sunshine following 13 inches of snow the day before. Perfect day, great hike. Started out with a dusting of snow on trail and turned around and exited back out when we got to about knee-deep snow. Loved the weather there. Was saddened when the region received the devastating floods last year. And, the fires in the Springs area last summer and the year before, Waldo Canyon and Black Forest fires. But know that is the nature of the area and with the great people and communities, you always find ways to recover. Just wanted to share my love and experience in the area. I hope the mothers in your family have a special Mother's Day and for those mothers that have gone, draw from all the memories as they will see you through the day.

Just found family in Lyons Cemetery, in Lyons, CO. Do you know if cemetery, monuments, and graves were damaged by last year's flood?
