I have been happily researching my family and my husband's for over twenty years. I use every means possible including DNA and visiting cemeteries around the country. When I discovered this web site I wanted to add what I could to the data base. This is an excellent site for genealogists, I love it.|
I live in Woodstock, Illinois, within walking distance to two large cemeteries. This is a real plus for me.

|Dutchy||name change on Sarah Ryder wife of Thomas Ryder|
grave referred to above #68990737 in Oakland Cemetery Woodstock McHenry County Illinois identified as Sarah (Townsend) Ryder is actually Sarah McCourt (McCort) Ryder. The death date listed on the site for Sarah Townsend Ryder is 1893 while the tombstone reads 1887. My great Grandfather James H Ryder was a son of Thomas & Sarah Ryder. James H served in Company K 153 Illinois infantry as supported by the civil war pension filed by his window Esther. The Census 1850. 1860 & 1870; death & burial record for Elizabeth (Rider) Ryder Sherman establishes Sarah McCourt as the mother & wife in the referenced Census & also as the Sarah A Ryder buried in Oakwood Cemetery, McHenry, Ill; NOT Sarah Townsend. I have submitted a name change request. Sarah McCourt & Thomas Rider were married Feb 15 1831 in Bath County Virginia court records. The same Bath County records show marriages between 2 different Thomas Riders & 2 Sarah Townsend-but not the one buried in Oakwood cemetery

Hi Julie, I was doing a headstone request for several graves that you have added into find a grave. When you were transcribing Oakland cemetery, did you have access to more then just the headstones in the cemetery? I could not find them and wanted to confirm if you had additional resources for graves that could be unmarked or if I had missed them when walking.

|Paul Di Troia||Living in his house|
Thanks for posting his memorial. I just moved here to Woodstock and decided to do some research on this wonderful 1905 home. Mr. Forrest lived here from 1918-1941 where according his obit he died in this house. He was a retired farmer who settled here in his declining years. I am honored to be living here.

|CM Drenan||Edit Request - Medlar Find A Grave Memorial# 67623030|
I submitted an edit request for my 2X great grandmother Marie Louisa" Dake Medlar, which you have entered as "Maud Louise", wife of "JS" - who id John S. Medlar (Memorial# 147133509), but after looking at it, it would be a duplication memorial to one that another user had transferred to me earlier this year - Memorial# 147133522). Even though it was created later, I'm guessing they did not realize it was a duplicate when entering it because you had the first name incorrectly as "Maud" on your earlier entry. I had already edited the newer listing to add biographical info and linked many family members to it last spring. Would you consider deleting your entry since all the work has been put into the other entry? I will then link the son you have linked (Fredie) to the rest of the siblings. We had talked about Fredie's death date earlier this year.
