I by nature like to dig. Looking up things, solving problems, helping people are just some of my interests. I live in Rockford and enjoy living here. In particular i'm a fan of the North end. It's and old term for the area just north of the downtown area. My dad owned a service station on Main & Auburn for many years. Greenwood Cemetary across the street is where a lot of movers and shakers of the city are entombed. The company I worked at for 20 yrs is located near there also. The Ingersoll Milling Machine Company.|
Let me know if anyone needs obits or what have you for Rockford history / people.

You were so kind to send the obit you found for Olive Ross Spaulding. I have added it to Olive's memorial on Find A Grave. I am sorry it took me so long to follow through and thank you when you sent me the obit.
|kfort||RE: Haskell - Kimball family information|
Thank you so much for the prompt answer to my request...we found all of this information very interesting and it was neat to see Mike's mom's name mentioned on the second obituary you sent. We haven't been able to find anything on Mike's grandfather, Samuel Lindsay, but it looks like he was from Rockford. Any ideas on how we might find info on him? We know the marriage didn't last and that his grandmother remarried. Thanks again for your help! We had looked into all of this a couple of years ago but since our daughter is in Rockford this week visiting a friend it kind of all came up again. We'd like to come there at some point and meet up with Mike's two sisters to visit the cemetery and the library.

|kfort||Haskell - Kimball family information|
I was looking into my husband's maternal side of the family because he was always told of his mom's grandfather who was a doctor, Dr. Frank Kimball of Rockford IL. In looking through some Rockford history I found that Dr. Kimball was the grandson of Dr. George S. Haskell. It was very interesting to read of Dr. Haskell's life in Rockford as well as his many endeavors. I'm wondering, though, if there is any other information about Dr. Frank Kimball available. My mother in law has passed away and it seems there was some estrangement between her mother, Alice Kimball-Lindsay-Peck over the years so we don't know much about the doctor. We did find that a home that he lived in in Rockford is still standing and that he was instrumental in founding Rockford's first hospital but anything else you may be aware of would be much appreciated. Thanks so much!

|Michael Wilt||Carrie Schmauss|
Thank you for providing the newspaper obituary information for Carrie Schmauss.
For many years the Schmauss family operated a very well known meat butchering and processing shop in downtown Rockford, Ill. The Schmauss family also owned a large farm on Mulford Rd. just south of Harrison Ave. My own great grandparents rented part of that farm land from the Schmauss family during the early 1900's

|Kati McSweeney||RE: Rockford Sproul|
I remember requesting changes to William Craig Sproul, his son Oliver, and to his second wife and widow Clara Louise (nee Helm) Sproul Heitz from Rockford if that's the same as "Rockford Sproul"-LOL!
Clara's brother, Dr. Harold McMurdo Helm, married my cousin Ethelyn G Bennett. So, I'm only related to him by marriage. I did research his family though to add him to my family tree. And rather than just to throw away all that research, I put in requests to adjust the appropriate memorial pages at Find A Grave.
Thank you for the transfer of my great-grandfather Oscar. I very much appreciate it.
