I am a high school teacher and a history buff. I used to live a few blocks from Greenwood, Rockford's oldest and most historic cemetary. I started carrying a camera with me wherever I went so that I can add records to findagrave~ prominent local people, war veterans, interesting headstones, and of course, my own friends and family. |
I remember when I was a kid, my grandmother, Eva Powell Fuhr, would index cemetaries and research geneaology. She kept very meticulous records, on handwritten cards and notebooks. She wrote two family histories on an electric typewriter. She corresponded with people all over the world, and truly worked to get her information (This was back in the days before the internet). Grandma's research was her life's work and she was a proud DAR member. Grandma passed on in 1985, but she left behind a great deal of material. So whatever research I do now, I shall dedicate to her memory.
If I have listed someone from your own family, and you want to list it yourself, or you want to add something to their listing, just email me and we'll work it out. I don't mean to offend anybody. The memorials are made as a tribute to the deceased. All of whom were loved and have a story to tell.

|Natalie Woodall||Oscar G. Buttolph|
Dear Mr. Fuhr, When you took the picture of Oscar's stone, did you happen to see a stone for his wife, Martha Rose Demont? She died in May 1929 in Chicago but I am wondering if she might be buried next to her husband. I am interested in these people because I am writing a book on the 110th Regiment, of which, as you know, Oscar was a member. Many thanks for any information you may be able to provide. Best wishes, Natalie J. Woodall, PhD

Would you consider a transfer of Woods' memorial to me because he is my great great grandfather?
I have already submitted a couple of suggested changes for his memorial, but I'm now wanting to do more. My project will link more family members and add biographies and managing his memorial will allow me greater ease to accomplish these goals.
I appreciate your consideration. Thank you.
John J. Long

No problem taking the picture. The cemetery is in Henry County, Illinois, about 4-5 miles north of Osco. It is in the country. I guess it is called Morristown Cemetery, but I couldn't find the name anywhere in the cemetery. Across the road, there are about 3 or 4 houses. I have been by it several times, but I have never heard of Morristown. I added the other Mason tombstone pictures also. Thanks, Roger.

Hi Mr. Fuhr. I think I found Joicy, wife of Charles Harrison Hevrin. I believe she is the Joicy Sutter who is buried next to him. I am checking with my mother and aunt. Thanks. Cheeky
