Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been researching my family history since 1973. Find A Grave is a great resource. Surnames important to me: Harp, Hoagey, Swavely, Krause, Sheafer, Kline, Keeney, Irvin. Most of our family was in Pennsylvania.

Oakland Cemetery has over 15,000 known interments. The Bureau County Genealogical Society has maps and caretaker records for this cemetery. The BCGS has very good information on all the cemeteries in the county.

I enjoy the search and challenge of finding the graves. Photo requests get my highest priority. When I go out to fulfill a photo request, I photograph all the markers in the family plot. The rules I follow; "Photograph the grave/gravesite "in-situ", or as it appears in that moment in time. The purpose is to show the grave as it is, be it dirty, cluttered, broken, or pristine. It is not your job to clean it, clear it, fix it, or decorate it. The graves are not yours to do as you please. Remember, one person's "good deed" just might be another person's vandalism. Go take lots of photos...but do it like an anthropologist and do not disturb the grave site. -AJ" Mar. 10, 2013

When time permits, if a memorial does not exist I create one. I also search for some records to tie the people together and add a bio. I have a backlog of photos to create memorials. Each trip involves multiple cememteries and normally 300 to 500 photos.

If you would like to use my photos, please ask. I have recently experienced some issues with my photos being used inappropriately. I want to share, but I want to know who, what, where, how? the photos will be used. Transfers and edits, please use the EDIT tab.

Memorial # 86925781 Rebecca Wixom
The headstone photo at Find A Grave is wonderful, but it had dirt over the last two digits of her death year, and more importantly, her age at death. Many have claimed that she died in 1857, but her birth year is not well documented. If you can help me verify that she died in 1857, and how old she was, I will be ecstatic.

Thank you very much

I would like your permission to use the gravestone photo that you have posted for my ancestor Julia W Stone, Memorial #100247380 buried in Bunker Hill Cemetery in Buda IL in my ancestry.com family tree. I will gladly give both you and Find a Grave credit for this photo.

Maiden Name of Ellen Josephine Hendricks
Link to memorial:
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=95475509

Her PA death certicficate lists her maiden name as Hogey. Her parents headstones both spell the Last Name as Hogey.

While the PA birth/baptism register 2955-2885 for Ellen Josephine lists her last name as Hoge, I believe the spelling on her parents headstones as the best indicator of how they spelling their last name.

RE: Robert James and Isabella Woodruff graves
I got the information in two places, from the Cemetery and then the information was confirmed independently by the Bureau County Genealogical Association. The researcher who helped me told me that the caretaker records show lots 19, 24 & 24? were owned by the Woodruffs, although it is difficult to determine who was buried in each of the lots.

This is what they found in 2008:

North most marker: Thomas M. Woodruff
Eliza H. Woodruff Beach
"Father" and "Mother" markers

Marker to south: Mary Jean, wife of A.B. Charbonnell

Marker father to south: marker out of ground & leaning against a tree stump: Isabella L. Daughter of R.J. and I.S. Woodruff

It is possible that Robert James and Isabella were buried in these graves as well, but unclear.

Thanks for your help!

RE: john kerns
Thank you. My husband is James Washington Kerns' great grandson. JW Kerns is another son of Peter Kerns Sr. and brother of John. We recently spent some time at the cemeteries in Ottawa and Earlville.

Mary Bickel?
I see that you've photographed the headstones for the Bickels in Section A1 of Mount Zion Cemetery, Pottstown, PA. Are you family?

I ask because I've been trying to "catch up with" graves that have not be photographed for Find A Grave or had a memorial created. I've found a headstone, nearly illegible, for a Mary Bickel. The point is that I cannot read it and thought you might have insight. I'll create a memorial so you can see the photograph. Any help is appreciated. Sandi
