As you can see I am still in Colorado (currently snowing and in the teens) and still dreaming of Oregon and its waterways, bridges, moss covered trees, and yes the rain.. I am looking forward to a possible trip back to Oregon later this year for at least a week.
I have worked with and enjoyed communicating with a number of great volunteers in both Colorado and Oregon and consider them my friends and FAG family. With that in mind this year has also brought me a few nasty volunteers that I have had to have FAG block from emailing me. Please if you are one of these move on no communication is required and leaves more time for me to help the ones that need and appreciate my help. Also, I don't believe I need help on how to load memorials – after over 50,000 memorials managed I think I have it down.
I enjoy helping people with finding and linking their families – investigating is in my blood. I also enjoy filling photo requests as you can tell by my over 2,500 currently taken. So if you need my help please let me know but please be considerate on the number asked at a time so I can help others who need my help. Also, if I tell you the grave is unmarked or the loved one was never buried at the cemetery, this was only brought to your attention after asking at least two people in the office and checking out the site myself to insure the information is accurate. I find I have a great working relationship with all the cemeteries I currently work with.
Transfers! If the name is Bolejack, Bolerjack, Pomeroy, Campbell, Deboard, Dickey, Hodges, Weddle, Francis, Braning, or Robinson – don’t bother asking. Or if I put a flower “ Family” – please don’t ask it just takes time away from what I am currently doing. With that said – I don’t believe in hording other volunteers family members. Sometimes it might take me a few days to answer but I do try and answer as quickly as possible. I also will not transfer when you have a proven history of poor updating and editing memorials skills. I believe that the loved one and their family members deserve someone that is prepared to take care of them.
Outside of FAG I am the proud grandmother of twin granddaughters and three grandsons. And if they don’t keep me busy enough I have two twin nephews and their brother that stop by to spread joy and the occasional cold.
find a grave info hi...my grandfather is on find a grave and you are the owner? I have his birth certificate and his legal name is George Earl Wolfer (memorial number 90471554) and we have Earl George Wolfer in find a grave. I am wondering if that should be changed? It's not huge deal - but as I am doing research it sure does help if legal names are used whenever possible....I know his headstone just says Earl...my grandma did that. He went by Earl his whole life...but he was George at birth. Let me know what you think as I am pretty new to all of this. Thank you! Sue
Donald McDougall @ Fairmount Thank you very much for taking the time to find Donald. I only had his obit which indicated Fairmount as burial place after cremation. Will remove him and reenter as a cremation at least there will be memorial. Bill Preston in NYS
Amy & Evan Peterson Thank you VDR for the nice photo of my great Aunt and Uncles grave monument in Fairmount. My paternal grandfather and Amy were brother and sister. It was such a wonderful surprise to see it photographed. I live in California and I think Amy & Evan's son is passed away. He would be over 100 (1909) ! A no doubt not aware of Find A Grave or own a lap top or smart phone !
My gracious thanks to you, you do a wonderful thing for these "distant souls" living survivors and their grandchildren. "God Bless you dear" !
