I have now been back in Colorado for a couple of years but I am still dreaming of waterways, bridges, moss covered trees, and yes the rain. I don't know if I will ever get use to the snow but I am told we need the snow for the water levels during the summer. I am unsure of the numbers but I believe rain works better and it doesn't require a shovel. |
I have been lucky enough to connect with family and friends. While in Oregon I had some great Colorado volunteers that helped me with my family's stones and have had the pleasure of meeting and working with them in Colorado and meeting new ones along the way.
I have had quite a couple of years, babies born; friends & family that have passed; reconnected with friends from high school; getting to know my granddaughter, and I have had two surgeries.
I have been working a number of cemeteries trying to help family find family and over the last three years have heard some of the saddest and happiest stories from family that were so happy I helped them locate a missing loved one. I still get surprised when someone mentions the number of memorials I have loaded or the number of photo requests I have completed. I do this for you and the numbers mean nothing. If I was somehow able to help one of you during the day find an aunt, uncle, sibling, grandparent, parent, or childhood friend – it is you that has given me a reason to smile that day and continue on with what I do.
Also, I believe in transferring memorials to family no matter how many generations removed. I believe the four generation rule is used for hoarders that are interested in numbers and just want to keep your family. One of my pet peeves is people taking over or starting memorials that do not know how or have any intention of maintaining the site. I feel the family belongs to the family but should be with a family member that is going to insure that links and edits are going to be taken care of in a timely manner.
I do not transfer to non family – I volunteer my time for the family and that is where I want them to end up. I am impressed and grateful that there are people who take time to work on groups and any editing you require or photos you need – I am your girl but NO I don't transfer to non family.

|David Sharp||Cathalyn Bolerjack request|
I found the Bolerjack plot in Oakland and it has her husband on one side and his Mom and Dad on the other, but there is no inscription on the stone for her yet. I don't know if there is family to contact a monument company to get her name added, but I have the pictures of the other 3. David

Thank you, thank you for the nice pictures of Howard Wingren's and Magnus and Hulda Nelson's stones, and so quick too. Because Magnus was incorrectly listed as Magnus S (instead of B), I didn't dare link his daughter Elvira to him. Now I can do that and link Magnus to his mother, so your pictures are a big help. Espa

Thanks kindly for the photo, happy trails.
Thank you for your time and effort. I did not make or manage the memorial, but thank you for letting me know that she is not buried there, I will make a note of that in my family tree.

I work with what the State of Oregon calls 'Early Oregonians". They are a special classification unique in Oregon's history. I have been working hard at it for the past 5 years. Hope that you will be able to work with me when our paths cross again.
When I do send information to a custodian it is with the hope that a receptive person receives the information. Some few completely refuse to add anything to a bio. They have many reasons from they are too busy to it is my policy not to add anything unless you are direct family. Little can be done to change minds and tell a small part of their life as it may appear on a memorial. Many relatives just thank me for connecting family members together. I also correct misinformation found it early Oregon records. It is often the misspelling of names on things like marriage records, etc. I'm in contact with the Oregon State Archives on these occasions.... They need more volunteers.
That was a outright mistake on my part. I have no idea how that happened and wish it had not.
In hundreds of times I have sent messages it never happened before. Hope it never happens again.
But, thankfully the custodian can easily make the correction. As it is not unfixable.
